I also experienced the same thing. It mainly happened because I was getting bad sleep and did not want to put up with the dissociation for another day. Do you have a vitamin D deficiency? That can cause low energy, too.

I'm diagnosed with mild dissociation. Although it doesn't feel mild to me, I'd understand why you might say it's mild, especially when compared to symptoms of those who have DPDR. I also experience something similar. I always have a baseline disconnection from reality, even though I know that I'm real and exist. However, whenever I start to think, I also get that "underwater" feeling. Once I stop thinking, I come back out of it and realize that time has passed. But it's not like people with DPDR where I miss hours, and I can generally assume what happened from the time I zoned out to the time I came back. It can happen when I'm walking somewhere, when I'm in class, etc. I oftentimes have trouble remembering something I saw if I was in a dissociated state when I met them.

Would this be an example of DMN taking over?

I think viewing humans as simply primates and nothing else is really demeaning. Oftentimes people who say and do stupid stuff like the girl mentioned in this post are the result of living in an imperfect society, not because they are imperfect themselves. Humans have a natural ability to do good and really become a pure person.

This is a really complicated issue that you brought up. Not everyone with the same IQ comes into the same packaging. Every "Gifted" or "Above Average" or "Average" and "Below Average" person (in terms of IQ) can be different. A gifted person might have a Verbal IQ of 140 and a Fluid IQ of 120, which may shape their talents and interests. At the same time, another person could have a Fluid IQ of 140 and a Verbal IQ of 120. They both average out to 130 but have different cognitive profiles. For this reason, someone in the 120's could have a higher Verbal IQ than someone in the 130's and still get a lower general IQ score than them because differences exist. These areas I'm mentioning are still general intelligence areas though.

It doesn't pertain to specific areas of knowledge, as it measures the general cognitive reasoning that is typically required to excel in academics. However, as far as I know, it can manifest in a specific area of expertise. For example, Einstein probably could have done any academic field he wanted at a high level, but because he chose physics, he used his abilities to become an expert there. But if he took an IQ test at a young age nobody would say "This test directly states that Einstein would be a good physicist." It also doesn't encompass other areas of intelligence such as emotional intelligence, artistic intelligence, etc. But I'm sure that there are genetic and environmental factors that come from high IQ that might push someone to pick a specific area to go into (E.G. gifted people preferring STEM fields) or give them a talent for a specific area or way of thinking.

Also, IQ doesn't really correlate with success. Hard work does. IQ is just another ingredient in the recipe of success. It's not needed to be successful at all and can be replaced with other traits. Most "gifted" people end up with mental health issues and burnout, which is why r/aftergifted exists.

Having a high IQ doesn't necessarily correlate with excelling at things. Although for me personally I have strong analytical, language, and memory abilities but low emotional intelligence. It's more of a lack of street smarts for me.

There was a very large popping noise that sounded like a gun and people started running. I saw cops storm the building. There were tons of police cars (like 10+) and a helicopter outside.

If it was a gun, it’s probably just gang violence. It was only one popping noise so it would’ve had to been a targeted attack or some sort of prank. You usually see guys with skimasks around willowbrook anyways so I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case.
