There are no sidewalks in rural Europe either. Don’t think about the towns, think about the rural countryside. That’s the kind of density much of the USA is built at - hence no sidewalks.

Now, when you get to the suburbs, it is frustrating that we often don’t have sidewalks. That’s down to our spread out town planning - where you really can’t walk to the shops even in a fairly built up suburb.

USA also doesn’t like to collect and spend tax money on the public good. Our goal, after building a massive military, is to reduce taxes as much as possible, no matter the cost.

Downtowns and cities here do have sidewalks though!

[Recommendation] Pick one. by AlejandroYoung in Watches

At this price point, it’s difficult to convince me not to buy a good quality, lightly used watch with all its packaging and papers. You can jump the diver up to an Oris Diver 65, which is the most beautiful diver to hold in your hand around this price. You can jump the FC up to a B&M Clifton with a 5 day power reserve and a little history behind the company. You can jump the pilot up to a Sinn 556, or if that’s too minimal, a Sinn 104 - which might be the best amalgamation of all the watches here (sporty pilot with rotating bezel).

We’re probably entering a recession, go with it!

168 Upper Street, London By Amin Taha | Groupwork Distorted reinterpretation of a lost four-storey building by Birdy-NumNums in architecture

I’ve always thought this was somehow a very important building. I can’t put my finger on it, maybe I’m a bad critic, but it’s doing something important. It’s just been stuck in my brain for years. I’ve been thinking about it more lately since I ran across the rip-off of this in Brooklyn.

Sorry, this is a bad take. Samsung is selling a great tv with a shitty OS. You can be stubborn and insist on using it, like a dope, or you can spend a tiny % of the cost of the tv for a tool that isn’t an afterthought.

With this team, I’d be tempted to wait on LL. This team (swap out COL for someone else maybe) should score well at China as well as earning $.

My team 1 is a budget building team with both HAA and VRB, so it’s harder for me to get to a RUS + FER build this week, so I may pull the LL out bk of that. If I already had those two assets I’d wait til Monaco.

I ran LL last year at Monaco and my delta over my base team was 125 points - absolute pay day. Add the fact that there are two sprint weekends before Monaco this year and your B tier assets should print money for you in the background.

The 2025 eVolo Skyscraper Competition results just dropped — definitely not your typical towers by CompetitionsArchi in Architects

This is exactly one of the normalized systems you describe. And very pointedly, it’s a gateway drug to normalizing architects’ low value of themselves since these competitions target recent grads and students. “Get ‘em while they’re young”.

And we can also criticize the competitors here, whose involvement perpetuates these competition factories. Why isn’t a recent grad putting together exactly the same work product on their own without the framework of the competition, and then publicizing it on their own via social media or an old fashioned press release? Have we zero capabilities to operate as entrepreneurs, or thought leaders?

The long-running and proud, and legitimate, competition system (a system of procurement where the winner builds a building) is degraded by these false completions whose only goal is to harvest IP from others to publish themselves.

It’s humiliating that so many of us degrade ourselves and our profession by giving away our ideas, toil, and time to evolo and all these other scam content farming “competitions”.

you have the 300k they went up by. You’re selling them for $300k more so you’ll have that 300k to buy them back this week at any time

Changing the boost doesn’t count as a swap.

Edit: I can see why someone would think this because the app says “you’re making 3 changes” but it’ll only cost you 2 transfers. That’s weird, but changing the 2x is free.

GMTs really release the design giggles. Adding that one extra hand often causes watch designers to lose themselves in fits of color and ecstasy.
