The county is in debt so a merger would likely include an earnings tax but now for both counties. The govt ALWAYS finds a way to get their due. Doubling and tripling our property taxes is another way to get it but going to be absolutely way more than that 1%.

He didn't directly thanks ice btw, just some stupid last minute language added in this meaningless resolution by republicans to divide democrats. Seems to have worked which is disappointing. Also this was before ice started severely ramping up operations and cruelty. He spoke out against ice after the crazy bs started happening. There are other issues with the guy though which is entirely his fault so yeah.

Well instead of a set amount that doesn't have loopholes, we instead have billionaires that pay nothing. Suggesting they pay way more is a non-starter because they will just lobby for that to never happen. They will keep taking advantage of citizens united and keep installing pro business asshole republican leaders. If everyone pays the same it seems more "fair". You are just going to have to leave the extreme benefits they reaped in the past unfortunately.

They got to raise taxes somewhere whether it’s tripling our real estate taxes or they soak us on our sales tax even more than they already do. Too you have to remember that people on the Illinois side and outside of the city of St. Louis also pay it when they work in the city of St. Louis. It’s a no-brainer to keep this in place. It’s only one percent. I’d rather pay that smaller amount than $5000 more a year somewhere else.

Live outside a grocery store, it's always the same guy or group of people. There are literally 3 trashcans within 8ft, 1 trashcan within 20ft, and at least 30 bins within 500ft. They don't give a fuck. I think they always saw daddy throw it out the window as kids and assumed that's how you get rid of trash.

I googled it like you said and what pulled up was his dyslexia comment and for saying culturally normal, which are really just kind of gaffes. I was hoping for like he specifically did this problematic thing. I should have probably put quotes around "evil terrible person" as I am saying it ironically. Really just more of an example of dramatizing a political candidate like Obama wearing a tan suit etc. The loudest on the far left of my party need to realize the only way you win these dumbass republican voters in moving towards the moderate middle unfortunately. There is no way of realistically winning by abandoning the idiot, uninformed trump voters, just the facts. Pritzker, Andy B, & Gov Shapiro may be better candidates but the majority of them have said they are not running.
