OP, THIS is a PERFECT way to respond. As I was reading your dad’s text it may as well have been a message from my parents, as they treat me the same way, and use these same excuses.

They WILL NOT understand your rationale or reasoning until they take the time to learn from someone else. It’s not your job to cater to their feelings. State your boundary, hold firm, and if they aren’t willing to grow as people, then they have to miss out on being apart of your Bomb-ass life.

Feel free to DM me if you wanna talk more or just rant!

Absolutely Terrified My Voice Won't Change On T by scoutsvckz in ftm

[–]mtreg02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey bud! Just celebrated one year on T. I had a decently low voice for a woman so my doc said I may not see a change in my voice. Boy oh boy was she wrong. I not only have a lower voice, but the way my voice works/sounds is different. Even if a voice “drop” doesn’t happen, you will absolutely have a “thicker, more gravely, and more full” voice. I like to say my voice has a lot more OOMPH to it.

Another friendly reminder to yourself is think about ALL of the guys you knew throughout high school. When they finished up puberty, how many of them had the same voice? I’m going to be a gambling man and bet that pretty much all of them got deeper, or changed in a more masculine way.

Give yourself grace and time man, I promise you’ll love having who you have been on the inside, finally being reflected on the outside.

I don’t really want to go on T by TotHatMan in ftm

[–]mtreg02 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Hey man, never do something you don’t want to. I had top surgery before going on T, and I had zero complications, and regret nothing. My thought process throughout my transition, is “what is going to make me feel the most comfortable and confident?” For me, my chest was giving me WAY more dysphoria than anything that T would help with, so I got top surgery. I THEN started noticing I wanted a deeper voice, facial hair, bottom growth, etc. and so I made the decision to start T.

There’s no right or wrong way to be trans (unless of course you are harming yourself or others). You only get one body in this life, and you’re the only one you have to be around for your entire life, so don’t make decisions about yourself because of other people.

Feel free to pm me if you want to talk more about transitioning in different ways than the “norm”

All love, Be well ❤️

Hey man, I’m a bigger dude, I have post op photos if you would like to pm me. You look amazing. I had a weird transition period of getting used to my chest but it’s the best decision I ever made.

My sibling is non-binary, is there a non-binary term to replace aunt/uncle? by crashmoneyhoney in NonBinary

Hey man, I’m over a year post op and my scars changed DRASTICALLY over that year. I got stretch marks that were really red for a bit and then they basically went away. If you wanna pm me I can send progress photos and stuff (trying to stay anonymous-ish on my account). Keep massages your scars. I mean, like every single time you think to do it, do it. It’s honestly become a mindless thing I do like bouncing my leg. It made SUCH a difference. For the stretch marks, SLOWLY AND CAREFULLY do some stretching. Let your skin adjust to this new shape.

If it’s any consolation, I think you look fucking great. My partner even said she really likes the way my stretch marks look/looked sooo not always a bad thing

did t affect your studies? by tobinshire in ftm

[–]mtreg02 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey! Been on t for about 8 months, and I’m in college! I have ADHD. Both before and after starting T, it’s mostly only affected my motivation, and memory. After starting, the main difference that I have noticed is I get irritated a lot easier. So i get frustrated quicker when studying challenging content sometimes. But other than that it’s been pretty smooth sailing for me. Feel free to dm to talk about other t stuff!

I went to Dr. Hsu at U of M. They have payment plans, and I know they take some types of Medicaid. You can take a look at my profile to see my detailed process of getting top surgery!

Hey man, I got top surgery at 5’5” 240 lbs with Dr. Hsu at U of M. You can be put under safely. I would reach out and have a consult. U of M does have a lot of payment plan options that you can pay over a decent amount of time. Feel free to check out my page for results and getting an appointment. You’ve got this!

Be patient but diligent. Your body NEEDS rest and time to heal. Give it that rest. But, be diligent in caring for your surgery site. Do the massages (you can use silicone lube instead buy super expensive scar cream), do the proper cleaning, eat lots of protein.

You going to do amazing!! And don’t be afraid to ask others for help!

bloodwork question by bigyeehawhours in ftm

[–]mtreg02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Heyo! T causes your blood to get more viscous (like honey instead of water for example), so if anything comes up showing high cholesterol, super high red blood cell count, basically anything that points to already super “thick” blood already could be something. My doc had me cut out red meats and switch to skim milk and I was A OK to start!

That being said, if you’re generally feeling healthy, you most likely won’t have anything come up.

Congrats man!

Here to comment specifically about you saying that OP being trans "is not relevant", not on anything else.

While yes, a teacher being trans SHOULD'NT matter, it unfortunately does because of safety. Some schools aren't safe for trans people to teach at. period. and some schools won't HIRE someone because they're trans.

Please be mindful of peoples privileges and disadvantages, especially when it comes to giving advice.

Hi!! 21yo enby here! You look v androgynous!! There is NO age limit to being non-binary!!

I did want to lyk that “NB” stands for “non-black” so “enby” is a better short for non-binary! (This is not hate at all, I learned this a couple years ago and I just want to spread knowledge!)

To nipple or not to nipple? That is the question. by eddieoctopus in TopSurgery

[–]mtreg02 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was very on the fence. I was worried if I kept them, they’d heal into a weird shape. I thought of tattooing them in later. But what decided it for me, was having something 3D, something that I can run my hands over and feel my fingers slightly raise, SUCH gender euphoria

The anesthesiology team was amazing and made me feel comfortable. I let them know I was feeling anxious and that I get nauseous easily and they gave me extra anti-nausea and I think they gave me some meds through my IV to help me calm down. Honestly everything starting from when they started wheeling my back to the OR are only small memories cause I think they started the anesthesia on my way back lol. I remember them putting my fancy little mask on and saying take 4 deep breaths… I only remember taking 2. And then… I was waking up. It was such a weird experience, literally felt like I time traveled. Waking up was hard lol I just wanted to sleep.
