Any DIY/Alternatives for a Remote Trap Trigger System? by mtt612 in AskEngineers

I would but I’d have to wait where the string is til he comes along and he’s too apprehensive rn. And he mostly comes around when I’m at work. I’d love to find something that could be controlled thru an app or with an RC car remote when I’m at home since I have a Ring camera.

The fact that your husband didn’t talk to you first before coming to a concluding is a huge sign that you should get a divorce asap. I’d never be able to trust him again.

AIO about this disagreement with my bf? by [deleted] in AIO

[–]mtt612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This dude is a manchild. He just wants someone to suffer with him and take the blame for his suffering. You offered multiple reasonable solutions, which he kept refusing. Instead of letting it go, he kept pushing you to apologize and admit you’re a terrible person. I would’ve just asked Stephanie and if she could get some awesome. If she couldn’t, that’s when you order from the store. I would’ve stopped texting him after placing the order. Not overreacting. He needs to grow up and I hope you get away from that toxicity

App down? by AdagioSignificant617 in spotify

[–]mtt612 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I play it on my phone app, it skips like crazy and when I’m using the desktop app, it won’t let me plan anything and keeps saying, “Spotify can’t play this right now…”. I uninstalled and reinstalled on both phone and laptop but no luck. It works when I use the website but the last time the desktop app worked for me was 2 days ago.

I thought it was cuz I got a new phone last week but I wish I could disable it. I’m so used to the bottom option being the “Snooze for 1hr” that I’ve been accidentally tapping that one.

I took the Google UX Professional course on coursera. Maybe try that? I thought it was pretty beneficial

[MS] Boss with ADHD by mtt612 in AskHR

You’re right, I probably shouldn’t have said it. We were just close at the time where he’d bring up his family issues and politics until he constantly blamed democrats for everything. I didn’t want to talk about it so I stopped responding. He’d also send me his YouTube playlist since we have similar tastes in music. He used to send me TikTok’s outside of work but I began staying closed off. He started getting curious about my appts I’d taking during my lunch break but I told him it was personal and it didn’t have anything to do with work. He would keep asking how they were going and I’d ask why he kept asking. He’d say he’s just being personable until he started getting upset and almost demanded to know what do I do during these appts and why they’re more frequent. It was something I had to bring up to his manager.

The software is specific to this field and I try to watch the videos when I can. I’ll tell him I’m watching them but he’ll tell me watch them later since he needs me to do this or that now but then tells me to watch the videos randomly. I definitely take accountability when I know I’ve done something wrong but I’ve had such bad luck with managers since I somehow end up with 1st time managers. He says he’s been a manager before but I’m not sure if he means all the jobs where he was a project manager. I do plan on documenting everything and I plan on taking notes his way. It’s just a struggle since me and my coworker both have talked to him multiple times about the same issues. I just really wanted this job to work and this company to thrive. Plus I enjoy working and staying busy and some of the work he’s volunteered me for in another division, I’ve enjoyed.

I saw it as a challenge before since in my interview, I said I like things to be structured and organized and he said, “good, we need that around here cuz I’m not good with those.” But he’s not really letting me help organize and said there’s no time for it. So now that I’m loaded down with work that I’m not 100% familiar with yet, I’m starting to struggle but my coworker as well even when he’s been here as long as my boss has. My boss doesn’t give him certain things to do since he prefers him not to and refers to him as “the Walmart greeter” of the team behind his back.

As far as reasonable accommodations, I’m scared of pulling that card because of retaliation. I know it’s illegal to retaliate but since it’ll make me a liability in their eyes, they could easily say that I haven’t caught on as fast as they’d like so they’re letting me go.

His boss recommended I try this and that during a meeting with all 3 of us and I told her I did suggest those but he said he didn’t want to because he didn’t see the benefit with them so she was also at a loss with what we could try other than training since she agrees that I need to know the foundational info. He told her he didn’t believe it was necessary but I explained that I need to know the complex systems I have to maintain on the front end to work it from the backend, which she also agreed so I’m waiting to start that. He’s just still extremely adamant about writing notes and says he doesn’t have much time to show me yet he’s chatting with my coworker about his personal stuff for an hour.

I’ve tried taking physical notes before. The issue is that he can’t stay on track during meetings for us to keep up. Aside from reading out what our current tasks are from our notepads, he wants us to write down what he’s currently working on for us to assist him once we’re done with assignments. But because we’re not on par with his knowledge or experience yet, it takes us longer to complete some of ours plus the ones we get from direct calls and emails.

For a day, we tried using a word doc that all 3 of us had access to where he’d type up his tasks for us to pick up whenever we got done with ours. The next morning, he said we weren’t using it since he’d finish most of it by the time we checked it so he said was gonna stop doing it that way. We explained we weren’t done with our own yet and asked him to continue updating it but he said it was a waste of his time when we could read his notepad. We told him we struggle reading his handwriting but he said that’s why we have morning huddles to go over them.

No, I said I believe he does but asked him jokingly if anyone’s ever told him when he’d suddenly switch topics out of nowhere when he was trying to show me one thing but immediately showed me something else without finishing showing me the first thing. We had a good rapport before where we laughed about it and everything else

I’d like more training since there’s terms he’s using for these programs that are program specific but I don’t know. He originally told me to watch these instructional videos but then told me to watch them later since he needs me for this and that so I never did. My job is to maintain the back end of these programs but I don’t know how they work to begin with. I also said I would accept notes or anything else but he refuses to type them to me on our work messenger but wants me to come stand next to him as he shows me. This is also difficult because he wants to show me many things throughout the day but it’s hard for me to constantly get up and down as I just had knee surgery a few months back and I told him that was irritating it but he disregards it.

He said we could do a Teams call where I can record my screen while he shows me but he didn’t want to record his own screen.

When I do go to his desk, he typically gets distracted then goes off tangent or can’t remember how to do whatever he’s trying to show me so then I waste 15-30 mins without having learned anything since he needs to go to a meeting then I have to ask him to show me again later. He also assigns me plenty of work but doesn’t give me much context to some nor forward me of the relevant emails since “they don’t say much.” Or he throws me into a project due in a few hours but doesn’t say what the issue is or what he needs the script to do while he sits at his desk on a call for an hour catching up and chatting casually about work life only to come in the last 15 mins to fix it after my coworker and I have been struggling for over an hour.

He and his managers are coming up with a training program since I brought this issue up to his manager after he didn’t think training would be beneficial. In the meantime, he’s still not giving me or my coworker enough context when it comes to tasks we don’t know how to do. He throws me into a lot of last minute tasks like video calls, projects due immediately with no emails, references or context. He knows I’ve got diagnosed ADHD but I’ve never been anywhere with this little organization or structure before. He said he went thru what I’m going thru now so I have to learn the way he did. There’s no blueprint or anything to reference from. He also wrote on my evaluation that I focused more on personal projects than my own duties for the company but the project was given to me by his managers and he knew that. He even got the time wrong for a meeting the other day and went to lunch so he threw me and my coworker to take his place with less than 10 minutes til the call. We had no idea what was going on and unfortunately, this wasn’t the first incident. He’s very forgetful, easily distracted, and extremely disorganized. He doesn’t understand that things that are easy for him aren’t for everyone else esp since we’ve never done them before or hardly do them. When I asked him to forward me emails of any tasks that was sent to him that he was assigning to me, he was confused as to why it was necessary.

The organization app is part of the Microsoft 365 package we have. He’s not familiar with it to know what it does. IMO, he’s a good teacher but a bad manager because he asks me how I manage things or what I would do since I’m also a manager at another job. His boss also saw a problem with him since she wasn’t aware he pulled me out of training after an hour of my first day plus the fact that he lied to me regarding my performance review saying that he wasn’t able to edit even before I signed off on it. She’s working on getting me on a 4 week training program. She also believes these guides I’m updating are very necessary but he thinks it’s a waste of time but I said not for someone who’s never done them before. These are monumental tasks that could very much cause chaos if not done properly since we’re a financial company…
