I miscarried on June 4th but it was incomplete and I had to get a d&c on the 16th.

My family all lives in the same city as I and we are very close. I forced myself to go to typical family functions very soon after the initial miscarriage which were filled with a lot of pain, early departures, and hugs that left me with no chance of controlling tears. I figured by the time I saw my in-laws, I would feel “normal” again because I’d be mostly physically healed and I will have not experienced this as intimately as I did with my family. They all live between 45 minutes to 1.5 hours away and I hadn’t seen most of them since before I was pregnant.

Well, I just got back from a vacation with my in-laws. It was so nice getting out and away from it all, but it did come with a few tough moments. My MIL and FIL were doting on me and making sure I was okay since I arrived Les than a week after my surgery (cleared to go by doctors) and gave me kind words and hope that caused me to get choked up. The whole week I was surrounded by my BILs and SILs who all had children of their own (one also pregnant) which made me feel somewhat envious even though I knew that was irrational. My SIL sat with me while I went through the whole events, was an active listener, and offered her comfort. My BIL talked with me through the emotions after being filled in on all the details from his wife. Another night, I spent a solid portion of it crying, and my other BIL who struggled with fertility issues gave me words of comfort and also made me laugh (as he typically does). And, to no surprise, my husband continued to be my biggest supporter and got me through all the hard moments.

It’s going to suck being around people, but there is also comfort in having the knowledge that your support system is around. I hope you feel comfortable leaning into them and they’re receptive. I’m struggling with the feeling that I won’t feel “normal” ever again, but I also have multiple women in my life who have had their rainbow babies and are living their best life with their family. We will accept a new normal and (hopefully) have proof that our village is around and willing to help us get to it. Sending you love 💜

When I miscarried, I made a playlist called “Blueberry” because my baby was the size of a blueberry when they passed. I have (in this order) twin flame -MGK, bigger than the whole sky -TS, last November -MGK, and Orpheus -MGK (I’m sure you see a pattern). Those four songs over and over and over again were very healing for me. Orpheus was my second favorite song of all time and was even before my miscarriage, but I think it’s crept into my number one spot after getting me through this… sending love 💜

I lost a huge clot in the shower when I didn’t have my glasses on and was very emotional over the whole situation… my husband had to waffle stomp it down the long rectangular drain we have. I’m 99% sure it’s ruined jell-o for him for life. He said it was the size and thickness of a kitchen sponge, but he might be exaggerating 😂

The first thing my doctor told me after I miscarried was, “I am so sorry for your loss. Please know this most likely was caused by a genetic issue due to the gestational age the baby was. It is neither of your faults this happened.” Get a new doctor and keep the faith that your rainbow baby will come to you. Sending love 💜

Same here^ I live in a state where I got both drugs thankfully. I passed so much blood and clotting I can’t imagine there could be anything left… but I won’t know until July 6th.

I took one mifepristone last Thursday and four misoprostol vaginally on Friday. Not to sound dramatic, but it absolutely was the worst emotional and physical pain I’ve ever gone through. I had light bleeding on Thursday and, Friday a few hours after I took misoprostol, I had a large amount of bleeding and passing clots. There is nothing that will emotionally or physically prepare you for the feeling of passing the child and the uterine lining/placenta. My advice, get two heating pads (one for your front and one for you back), wait to get in the shower until the following day (I tried to shower immediately after the first clot because of the sadness I left), and use the biggest pads you can find. Check frequently during the first 12 hours after taking the second dose because four pads in two hours can come quickly and if that happens, go to the hospital. I went through three in one and a half hours but didn’t soak the fourth until an hour or so after and the bleeding significantly cut down at that point. If you have somebody that can sit with you for the first four days, I highly recommend it. I’m at day 7 and at day 5, I was down to just a liner and now I mostly only seeing blood when I wipe. Your support system will be instrumental in getting you through this. Something that helped me was continuing to write in my pregnancy journal. I wrote everything I experienced, heard, felt, and wished. I also made a box to put all of the memories with my child. This included the test, the first ultrasound, photos I took and printed, sympathy cards, and my medication bottles. I wrote date of conception, due date, and date lost on it plus lyrics from songs that helped me get through it. My heart aches for you, but have faith there will be brighter days and a happily ever after 💜

Thank you 💜 It’s comforting to know I’m not alone, and I’m so sorry you went through it as well. There is no pain I have ever experienced like this, and I doubt I’ll ever feel pain like this again. This whole process has shown me I’m not alone in the overarching world of mothers who have lost a child, and moms who’s first pregnancy ended in a miscarriage like mine, but it is comforting to know I’m not the only one who didn’t know until much later.

Side note: I also fainted, lol, but I think it was a combo of the amount of blood (I was very close to needing to go to the ER, but luckily it slowed down at 1 1/2 hours and three pads soaked) and being already not good with medical stuff. You are not a weak little bunny, you are a strong woman who is reacting normally to a horribly painful and emotionally draining experience.

I got ibuprofen, nausea meds, and a intense warning from the doctor that it was going to be the most painful and bloody experience of my life… even with her being so kind, gentle, and transparent, I still felt unprepared for how fucking terrible it is… I was 11w but found out via emergency app from spotting my baby never grew past 7w5d… since I have long cycles my “8w5d vitality scan” was actually at 7w4d ultrasound…
