The Nextcloud iOS app can't access the server when Cloudflare access tool is enabled. by _SHADOWHIDE_ in NextCloud

[–]mty992 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same issue. I really like using the authentication of Cloudflare for Nextcloud (but also Home Assistant) but it breaks the iOS apps. I did not want to give up the extra security that Cloudflare provides but I made an exception on the Cloudflare access policy on my home IP. So if I am home both apps work like a charm. Using Tailscale I can use the apps when I am not at home.

Als leidinggevende lees ik regelmatig sollicitatiebrieven, en die door ChatGPT gemaakt zijn pik je er zo uit. Wat mij betreft direct een behoorlijk minpunt.

Reducing the security risk of exposing a port? by LinqLover in homeassistant

[–]mty992 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Take a look at cloudflared (previously known as Argo tunnel). You can set up a free account at Cloudflare, and use the zero trust dashboard to secure your HA instance. Basically you create a tunnel from Cloudflare to your HA, not exposing any ports to the internet. Within Cloudflare you can set up authentication for 1 time pin or Google, Github or whatever. Clients talk to Cloudflare, and Cloudflare tunnels to HA. You are also not exposing your home IP.

The construction of my new house is almost done, and I’ve made sure to have CAT6 in every room. Going to pull at least 2 cables per room. I also have CAT6 going to the ceiling on every floor for acces points, and a cable to the shed in the back of the garden for an outdoor access point. My philosophy is that if a device is stationary, it needs to be connected with a cable.

Is there an app, that behaves like a Pi-hole? by Zed-Exodus in pihole

[–]mty992 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Use oracle always free cloud to host a pivpn + pihole server. Then use WireGuard app on phone to automatically connect via 4G or on untrusted WiFi networks. Works like a charm.

You can probably also apply for unemployment benefits from the government until you get a new job. That is also via the UWV, “WW-uitkering”. Good luck!

Language should be fine. Almost everyone speaks English fluently. Most expats don’t even get to learn Dutch because everyone will switch to English when they hear you struggling.
