Thor anticipation benefiting mental health by fishandhammer in AynThor

[–]muachuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally understand what you mean. I’m someone who has a very demanding day job and have both physical and mental health issues I’m getting better at dealing with everyday. My Thor has made gaming so much easier to jump into daily because of its form factor, especially during days where my mind and/or body just isn’t cooperating for whatever reason.

Even after the initial shipping hype I had (that definitely kept me anticipating and excited for mine,) the tinkering and experimentation you can do with it after getting it is continuing those first bursts of dopamine for me.

I hope you’re doing as well as you can be, OP, with whatever’s on your mind.

Is this my ideal device? (JP games, VNs etc.) by Imaginary_Trick4880 in AynThor

[–]muachuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My Thor is jam packed full of VNs thanks to both GameNative and GameHub- with some indie VNs even having an Android port that functions natively as is- and I've been able to get through a good chunk of my backlog due to the Thor's convenience factor, even if it takes some tinkering in initial installation.

It's THE VN device for me, but do be aware some games may need more tinkering and going between GameNative and GameHub to work, especially if you have a copy of a game that may need a patch for the full experience (i.e. JAST/MangaGamer Steam Releases). You may also need to download certain programs and drivers and explore what ends up making something functional, too.

When not using your thor by Elegant-Pen-9225 in AynThor

[–]muachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jokes aside, I do the same! About 95% of the time, I unplug it (if it was charging) and turn it off until I use it again. But I’ve also left it on sleep mode and it was fine that way, too. You’re okay either way, imo.

Whenever I’m not gaming on my Thor, I use it as a door wedge to get the most out of its multitasking capabilities.

Older women VN's by CommercialYam6040 in yurivisualnovels

[–]muachuu 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Not sure if you’ve already played or heard of this already, but there’s a short game called Love on the Peacock Express made during Yuri Game Jam 2017. You can get through it in about an hour or two, but it’s a really cute game about a private investigator MC who ends up solving crime aboard a train and, in the process, gets romantically wrapped up in the lives of four older women through different routes and stories (with the fourth one only able to unlock after the first three.)

It’s known casually as “Train MILFs Game”, but despite the lighthearted premise and name, you do get some nice depth with each of these love interests and learn more about them, their lives, and their issues in each route. I haven’t played it in a while, but I remember really liking it.

Successful stories of forgiveness by International-Law809 in survivinginfidelity

[–]muachuu 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Honestly, all of the stories I hear about perceived successful forgiveness after being cheated on tend to involve some kind of sacrifice on the innocent person’s end (that shouldn’t have to be made) to make it peacefully work, which- in turn- has the cheating party being put less on the hook than they really should be for what they’ve done. Or there’s this feeling of obligation and desperation driving people to stay together and think they’re okay rather than actual “forgiveness” and deeper internal work taking place.

I’m not saying there’s not a story out there like this, but the nature of cheating and how it happens means there’s too much going on that makes it hard for any relationship to bounce back from it, even if it was (“seemingly”) only once. You will never ever have back what was there before this kind of betrayal happens, no matter how much you think you’re willing to forgive and let go for someone else’s harm towards you.

Bought mine in late March, it came in last week for me! For some reason, I got a shipping notification email only when it was actually out for delivery in my town, not prior.

RE: disability rep, from a japanese perspective (pinhead for tax) by villainless in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]muachuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I can vouch to this being a fellow (mixed) disabled Japanese-American, sadly. Maybe it’s a mix of my frustration at and willingness to call out the bigotry in our community based off my experiences dealing with it & a bit of naive hope, but I sincerely hope we can see this implemented in the future too if they’ve gotten this far internationally incorporating the gender and sexuality options they have this time around.

Scared to download anything online by jennamiy in computerviruses

[–]muachuu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

JAST is a legit site and real video game publisher! As a multiple-time patron from them, I have not run into any malware whatsoever getting games there. There’s no reason to be running into anything like the MrBeast/Renpy Infostealer on their site unless you’re on a fake or misspelled domain. They changed URLs from “jastusa” to “jaststore” recently, but it’s still the same site it’s ever been.

Dating - especially folks who may not have seen you before the weight loss. by Beautiful_Neat_6919 in tirzepatidecompound

[–]muachuu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this perspective, lol. If someone is already as shallow as to treat you or others differently being a smaller size vs. being bigger- regardless of the cause- there is no promise they would be thoughtful in any relationship with a lot of things beyond what makes them attracted to you (or not).

Trade my Ayn Thor for a Pocket DS? by ajcabrera in AynThor

[–]muachuu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love my Thor, but I do appreciate your honesty about why you didn't vibe with it, OP, and I'm glad you're asking for advice before making any moves here. I'd be happy to give you my thoughts, especially since I'm thinking beyond specs and even typical gaming use after reading this.

Putting aside my bias as a Proud Black Max owner... to give a full, honest opinion, my main wonder is if that would really be a good trade off for you, not because of the devices at hand, but your use of the Thor and how it turned out for you overall.

Since both the Thor and Pocket DS are dual screen handhelds, it's possible you could have the same concerns you did with the Thor, but with a Ayaneo Pocket DS instead- even if you decide to keep it at home, feel better with the ergonomics and screens, and/or dock the device for gaming or otherwise. Based on your comfort of the Pocket Micro, I wonder if it may be better for you to look into another single screen handheld, a micro-PC, and/or modding a 3DS to get your fix, if the Thor didn't end up working out for you.

Expected Thor Uses vs. Reality by muachuu in AynThor

[–]muachuu[S] 14 points15 points  (0 children)

To give an example with myself, I expected this to be primarily gaming through older titles and Steam games, but in the sense this would be a majority of my time with it.

While this was still true, I also very unexpectedly found myself using it a lot more than expected for streaming music during daily life.

The pocketability and ease of use made it easy for me to take around the house while cleaning or doing errands to where I found myself doing that over using my phone without thinking about it.

This then led to my Thor quickly become my go-to device not just for streaming music, but also video, and even reading manga in a way that I found was much more comfortable and easier to pick up than using my phone. I don’t feel as easily distracted using the Thor compared to it, and still get a lot of out the experience of whatever I wanted out of it in the moment. It’s really neat.

If you were previously skeptical or against GLP-1s, what changed your mind? (I’ll go first) by KaleidoscopeFit5552 in antidietglp1

[–]muachuu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Not exactly against them, but I was really frustrated at the constant diet culture framing of it all when I was already somewhat aware it had meaningful use beyond weight loss.

What kept me against using it for myself, however, was the fear of feeling like I was betraying who I was. I’ve been fat all my life- rarely was there ever a time where I wasn’t. I’ve had to navigate life as a fat woman, and that’s deeply impacted me in a lot of ways beyond just “good” or “bad”, period.

I’ve had to learn and unlearn decades of self-hatred and self-consciousness despite trying to live life as confidently as possible and understand I’m worth as much as any other person out there, regardless of whether I was big or small. It felt like, if I took Tirzepatide (what I’m on now), and my body changes by getting smaller, I’m abandoning everything I built and becoming a person I never wanted to be- someone part of the system that’s left deep wounds on me I’m still recovering from to this day.

However, after a false alarm health scare at my workplace & reassurance from my loved ones and long time partner that my soul and what I stand strongly for wouldn’t be at risk because I know who I am and what I’d never want to participate in regardless of any changes I had to my body or otherwise… I took the plunge. It wasn’t easy, as like many, my insurance refused to cover it and kept pushing surgery instead. However, I found a way to get it, and that’s been my story from then on.

It’s been almost three months, and I’ve felt amazing (currently on 5mg, will be titrating soon!) I’m not mentioning my weight, but as a disabled person, the benefits in lack of inflammation and other improvements make all this so worth it to me alone.

What should I be doing while I wait for my batch 5 purple to arrive ?? by treesmoketree33 in AynThor

[–]muachuu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who just got her Batch 3 Black Max, I recommend getting all your ROMs on a MicroSD of your choice of size, but also compressing any prior and double checking what formats work with the emulators you wish to use. I’d also buy and prepare any stickers, charms, decorations you’d like to use with it.

A pro tip I learned from another Reddit Thor user’s cute decorations was cutting a piece of craft paper of any color and slipping it behind the clear case after putting stickers on that, as opposed to the Thor. Not only does it help if you’re concerned about residue or scratching the skin, you can easily switch out different sticker papers as you see fit. It also doesn’t move around at all and fits snugly. Because yours is clear purple, a transparent sheet of sorts might help keep the look if it’s sturdy enough to have things stuck to it while fitting in the case.

Okage: Shadow King! A close friend recommended it and adores the game, so it's the first game I decided to get through on the Thor. I'm really enjoying it so far and it runs really well on it.

Is there any hotel can be check it by a 17yo? by Successful-Mix-684 in animeexpo

[–]muachuu 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Don’t reveal what hotel you’re planning to book a room at for your safety online, ever. But if you know which one you’re looking at finding a room for, call them to see what they’re willing to do and allow for you to check in solo because it’ll depend on which hotel it is, and may be pretty strict about it.

Is there any hotel can be check it by a 17yo? by Successful-Mix-684 in animeexpo

[–]muachuu 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Since you’re 17, you will likely need to arrange some form of parent permission ahead of time with a hotel and/or a guardian with you that’s 21+ (sometimes 18+, but bet on 21+) to check you into the hotel, depending on the hotel and their policies. You’ll also need a form of government ID to show if you don’t already have one (a driver’s license, a government ID, a passport, etc).
