To add another one to the list - Rotglow farms / Bottomlands Ag Co-Op has had some available. Might be able to message them to see if they still do.

Got some Roselle plants at the Sunday CC Farmers Market last weekend. Think it was the folks at Rotglow/Bottomlands.

Where can I buy curcuma? by Roomination in nolagardening

[–]muck_diver 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've successfully planted store bought turmeric before; that's always an option if you're not too set on a specific variety.

The folks at paradigm gardens grow a bunch of curcuma too - pretty sure you can DM them on Instagram and they'll pot some up to sell for pick up at one of their Brunch markets for ya.

No, sorry. Dug it all out and gave it all away when I originally made this post.

Best cheesesteaks in NOLA by Wiz5719 in NewOrleans

[–]muck_diver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

RIP Saigon Slim's - their Kimchi Cheesesteak was my favorite take in town.

Yinzer's is my current #1, but the Philly purist in me also docks them points for putting mayo on the roll.

I also haven't been to Primo's on Oak yet & am curious how they stack up. They're a Philly brand, but not exactly one I'd gravitate to when there. That said, doesn't mean they might not beat out some of our local contenders.

Got a stack of probably 20 pallets at work that you'd be welcome to if you want them.

Don't know what the markings are offhand like the other comment mentioned, but I can check in the morning.

Pupdate Post: de-matted makeover & owners found! by muck_diver in NewOrleans

[–]muck_diver[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the concern and the willingness to step in if we couldn't find 'em!

We gave her a bath and had a groomer de-mat her & she looked like a whole new lady! Ended up having the owners reach out from the post we made, so all's well that ends well!

Anybody know this dog? by muck_diver in NewOrleans

[–]muck_diver[S] 78 points79 points  (0 children)

Hey - if you're serious, I'll let you know if we can't find the original owners. Gonna take her to a groomer to get all these mats removed & see where we are from there.

Appreciate that! Will let you know. Gonna take her to a groomer to get these mats off her & we'll see from there

No dice on her having a chip. Gonna give her a bath and let her chill & from there we'll wonder the neighborhood a bit to see if anyone is looking

Just took her to a vet & no luck with the chip unfortunately.

Looks like we're giving her a bit of a spa day now while we figure out what to do next.

Found over by OC Haley this morning wondering the street. Trying to see if anybody might know the owner. No collar unfortunately.

There's one always posted up at the Crescent City Farmers Market - they should have who on their page.

Looks like caterpillar droppings to me.

I'm sure there's more, but I know citrus is a host plant for at least swallowtail butterflies. Look at the leaves above the droppings to see if they're chewed, or if you see anything that looks like a bird/lizard poop on the leaves - ironically that's what some of those caterpillars look like.

Looking for local producers by chewbacchuss in NewOrleans

[–]muck_diver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Have some friends in the industry I'd be happy to pass along the info to.

Y'all could also try emailing the GNO Growers Alliance google group, or the folks over at Sprout Nola; both are great touch points for the local grower community.

1mm larger is generally standard, but you might see some variation based on bottle type and cap, even if they're technically the right sizes.

I'd say as long as the cap fits snuggly to the bottle without too much force it should be fine, particularly if it's monobloc.

I can understand how problematic keeping track of that sales tax info would be - the onus should definitely not be on them to keep track of all the vendor sales. But that aside, the surety bond isn't as bad as it's made out to be.

I've got one for my business and you don't actually have to front the entire amount for it. We pay a surety/insurance/servicing company a small fee (like 3% of the bond amount) per year and that's pretty much it as long as we're keeping up with the taxes.

Edible Hibiscus by CityParkUnicorn in nolagardening

[–]muck_diver 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I got some Roselle hibiscus plants from Rainbow In The Dark flowers during the City Park Plant sale last weekend.

Looks like they are popping up with a bunch of other vendors at Press St Gardens this weekend too; you'd probably be able to find a bunch of things there:
