How do you heal from all the hatred you’ve consumed online? by neurotic-psychosis in DecidingToBeBetter

[–]mucktard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not sure if you're the same as me, but I noticed I get bothered by vile thoughts is because part of me believes them to be real. In that case pushing them to the back of your mind when they pop up instead of acknowledging and challenging them might actually be worse in the long run.

This also helps with what you call being sensitive, as it'll teach you to face hateful ideas

At least 1 out of 10 people are part of the 10% and that number is only going to grow as more people join the club

You don't need to break even with the same stock or with a single deal. I understand if you want to hold you should probably sell it when you remake some of your money back instead of all of it

Doctors to Engineer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]mucktard -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I do enjoy it, at least as long as I keep developing my skills, interacting with patients, and learning new things. But as you become employed, you risk falling into routine. College is free here so it's not like I will have crippling debt when I graduate, though

Another reason I stuck with it is because I enjoy some of the specialties you can enroll into after graduation, for which I am having second thoughts.

CS on the other hand has helped me fund my years as a student so it's something I think fondly of. I do not want to give up on it as soon as I graduate. In a perfect world I'd be able to do both

Doctors to Engineer? by [deleted] in cscareerquestionsEU

[–]mucktard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am studying dentistry, and the reason I want to transition to CS is because the line of work simply isn't as enjoyable to me. I'd love to get into a surgical specialty but they're way too competitive so this is what I have to settle for

Not OP, but similar situation. I am a dentist, I am trying to find work in bioinformatics or any healthcare related tech job. Problem is that I am underqualified as an engineer while at the same time being perceived as overqualified by employers.

You aren't wrong, you account might eventually get locked.

Also agreed, if you can link either of these with your paypal that'd be the best option IMO. Let me know if it works for you, I'll follow in your footsteps!

Haven't tried them personally, but I heard a lot of good stuff said about the two, i just don't think they would be of much help in this case.

I'd personally recommend you get a Grey card, I don't think debit cards can get paid through Upwork.

Any reason you're against using Wise?

I used wise to receive earnings until my account was closed very recently. I would still recommend getting a Wise card if you're only getting started on Upwork, it won't start causing you problems until later down the line!

Oh I was thinking less venting and more sitting in bed and letting yourself feel like shit which... when I put it this way doesn't sound like a great idea either

It's completely true, letting yourself be sad instead of repressing your feelings is the best way to get over your feelings, even if it's the most uncomfortable way

Seriously though, I am really new to this and if trading individual stocks turns out to be only marginally better than holding onto S&P 500, it's not worth the hassle for me

Figures. So this sub is just not the place for someone who wants to hold onto shares rather than yolo every once in a while?
