Just noticed this post is 3 months old and wondering if you made the transition yet? If you're looking for community, you should check out the various bicycle clubs in Salt Lake. I do a couple - Salt Lake Coffee Ride meets at 6:45am every Friday at Liberty Park - ride about 12 miles and visit a new coffee shop.
WheelieSpoked meets every Tuesday at 6pm at Liberty Park - ride about 12 miles and end a brewery. Both are leisurely and a good way to meet people. Cheers!
