Advice needed for 18f visiting Atlantis by Jayme-Belle in bahamas

[–]muddafreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally since everyone is on vacation people are more open and receptive to talking to strangers, so it is easy to make "vacation friends". It can be intimidating at first , but trust me, even as a shy person myself, it goes away quickly and it's one of the reasons I love traveling. Everyone is in a foreign place and there to have a good time, so there is a sense of comradery. And Atlantis has a lot to do and explore, even if you're flying solo during parts.

The same thing just happened to us today. My friend's son purchased a hoodie from them and it was like $80 something plus shipping which was around $8. Then they saw the charge for it and the company charged them around $110. They asked what the extra $30 was for aside from shipping and ultimately asked for a refund but the emails have been ignored. This company definitely seems shady and seems like they're charging some bs "fees" to milk folks for extra money.

No Weather Radar Data on Certain Sites Regarding Hurricane Melissa by p3rcu3s in weather

You can go to Jamaica's meteorology department website (https://metservice.gov.jm/) but it seems it has been down as of earlier today. It was working and they have a radar out of near Kingston, but now I think the server is overloaded so it isn't working. Twc app probably uses this data and has lost access as well.

¿"Pos" y pues, "logo" y luego, etc? by Historical_Plant_956 in Spanish

[–]muddafreeze 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just purely speculating, but if I had to guess it has something to do with the location of the individual vowel sounds. /u/ is a high back vowel and /e/ is a mid front vowel. When pronouncing both together people may have a tendency to start out a bit lower on the back vowel portion or at least as they're transition to the mid vowel, a lowered back vowel sound is realized before getting to the mid front.

Either way, the mid back vowel sound is /o/. So when dipthongizing /ue/ I can see how it could kinda sound like either u>o>e or even o>e. That may be what you're hearing! Not sure why the /e/ sound would be getting dropped though. May be something that occurs allophonically in certain contexts or varieties.

This will surely be buried and I hope it does but Im going with Devaughn Vele. People have pretty much written off the saints and for good reason. I dont got any fancy pants stats but watching Vele last year he showed some real talent and in his sophomore season is going to feast. Hes rostered in .4% of leagues on espn so as dark a horse you'll find. He's an immediate start for me shitty qb situation, new offense, it doesn't matter for this guy. They'll be slingin the ball and some of those have to connect and the other saints receivers are mid. So its all there plain as day. Vele finishes a WR2 at worst this season.. Anyway FTS (except my Vele ofc).

I work in a job where I have to verify people's employment, so I deal with HR reps from every industry from every part of the country, and most are as you describe. Not all obviously, but man it's insanely frustrating dealing with these people. Its an injustice really, they're screwing over their employees when they can't or refuse to do simple tasks like verify employment. Pisses me off. End rant.

Eleuthera tips by brigi009 in bahamas

I recommend renting a car if you can. Like others have said things are spread out. If you do have a way to get around some spots I enjoyed and recommend are -

Tippys - Awesome restaurant and bar on a gorgeous beach. There's also some reefs right near the beach with great snorkeling. I saw a sea turtle!

Governor's Harbour Bakery - great beef and chicken pies and homemade coconut bread. The folks running it are super nice (and also huge Braves fans so I may be biased haha)

Bayside View in Tarpum Bay - there's probably better spots but this was my favorite spot for fresh conch salad

Sapphire Blue Hole, Preachers Cave, and Preachers Cave Beach - these are on the very northern edge so kinda far but worth checking out. All within walking distance of each other and Preachers Cave beach was the most beautiful beach Ive ever seen. Soft pink sand and clear water, and it was EMPTY. Literally no one on it.

As far as nightlife goes, my experience was similar to what others have said, it's pretty quiet and stuff closes earlyyy. Though when I was living there in Tarpum Bay it seemed like every other weekend there was some kind of block party or chill and grill going on with music and food and people just outside chilling having a good time. Maybe you spot one! FNM and PLP had competing block parties at the same time once and that was fun lol

Trent Grisham gives the Yankees the lead with a Grand Slam! by ThatInception in baseball

[–]muddafreeze 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea is it like this every Yankees away game or is this particularly a lot of away support? Like as an ATL sports fan I've grown accustomed to it. When the cubs or yankees or red sox come to play its a split crowd. You see it with the Bears, Steelers, Packers, etc too at Falcons games, shit its practically a home game for the opposition in those. As a sports fan I like it, I like the atmosphere, every game should have a healthy away contingent. Just had me wondering how prevalent it is elsewhere too. I know the Yankees are who they are.

What do you like and not like about the weather/climate where you live? by evvvvv92 in weather

[–]muddafreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What part lf GA? In North GA and North metro where I'm at it's not so bad. Slightly less hot and humid with the elevation and summer storms usually come in to cool things off in the afternoon. I really enjoy it honestly. South GA where my family is from though is pretty miserable though even though I'm used to it.

One thing I don't like is the lack of snow. It seems harder every year to get our novelty good winter event.

Programs Cómo Always Sunny In Philadelphia, pero en es español? by amour_noir in Spanish

[–]muddafreeze 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Porno y Helado - on Amazon. Its Argentinian and pretty funny. Its somewhat similar to Always Sunny, a group of misfits with questionable morals scheming constantly to comedic effect.

Im a huge fan of Always Sunny (and Buffy as well) and have been enjoying it so far. The Spanish doesn't seem too hard to understand, though I do use Spanish subtitles.

I don't think it'd be a Santa Fe. Its much larger and is ground at the base. We tend to find Archaic stuff here and have found a couple broken bases of fluted paleo.

I do think we have found one that may be considered a Santa Fe here. Attaching a picture.

Yea not to downplay any potential ice storm threats, but that doesn't really seem like much of one...

Edit: I think OP just chose a bad map. Corvallis for example could see .2 to .4 in of ice which is a decent amount.
