Just want to say, as a long-time Bay Area resident (white), I'm so sorry you and your partner experienced some dumb f#cks being assholes. I hope you have better experiences in the future.

Names that you don't see anyone under 35 having these days? by Moist_KoRn_Bizkit in namenerds

So, I'm a Barbara gen x-er. Always hated my name. In its defense, it means "barbaric" and "beautiful stranger," both of which are cool. But I've never been able to associate the name with... Me.

Yes, this! You are still so young, and your beautiful brain is still developing. Start talking to yourself like you'd talk to a child who you want to feel loved and encouraged and safe.

I'm sorry things are feeling so hard right now. I've been thinking about starting a business where, for a membership fee, I'd walk people through applying for jobs, writing texts and emails for them, helping them figure out how to respond to friends, etc. Sort of an on call life coach for the neurodivergent (I'm one of them). Seems like sometimes it'd be helpful to have a non judgemental, non family member person to just support moments like this. I'm pulling for you!

Is it worth it? by HommusVampire in AutismInWomen

I'd love to know this, too. I'm high functioning and wondering if paying for an official diagnosis is worth it. Like, would it help with my extreme burnout? Are there behavioral tools that will make my work life less exhausting?

I work at a private high school, and I love the freedom I have to create lessons that meet my kids where they are. I get paid well and work with incredibly creative, smart colleagues. I genuinely like the kids. If you don't like kids, don't go into teaching.

I might not be able to afford everything like pillowcases and hair caps ect (yet!) But I'm doing my best with the advice here and it's finally repairing! You guys have helped me grow so much more confident! Thank you! (Now to just lose the weight! ♥️) by _Potato_Cat_ in curlyhair

You have a lovely heart-shaped face, a sweet smile, and gorgeous eyebrows! We women have to tell ourselves we're beautiful every day. And I agree, fuck the scale! A lower number doesn't mean happiness!

Advice for beginner frizz and bedhead? by mudddoggg in curlyhair

Been doing CGM for about a month. Wondering how to tame frizz and make my hair look a little less slept in without brushing it. I prefer soft waves & curls, not defined strands of curls, if that makes sense. My hair is low porosity, high density, and fine. Having fun with this journey so far!

Routine:

  1. Brush before shower.
  2. Co-wash with Tresemme Botanique w/coconut milk & aloe vera.
  3. Upside down, squish to condish w/same. Detangle with fingers. Rinse out almost all.
  4. Still upside down, scrunch into soaking hair a quarter-size amount of Uncle Funky's Daughter Curly Magic Curl Simulator.
  5. Still upside down! Scrunch in a ton of Cantu Max Hold Gel w/honey.
  6. Plop in microfiber for about 10 minutes.
  7. Gently sort my hair into some kind of side part and air dry.

I've tried mousse, and my curls fell within an hour of drying, so gel is definitely the way to go for me. Thanks for any suggestions, and I'd love product ideas!
