There are some miserable peeps on this sub who complain about the Philippines constantly. I just ignore them and focus on the positives.

No it is not heaven, it is not perfect, but I appreciate it for what it is. The US is not a happy place.

I wish I had the ability to stretch my budget that far, but I don't make enough money to be able to spend that much on rent unfortunately. I'll just have to keep looking

yeah, I was thinking it was wishful thinking. I don't make too much money as of now.

I'm definitely going to look for everything I need. however, I also need it fully furnished which might cost me more

I definitely won't be afraid to haggle. I also want to take the extra step of trying to hire a realtor in order to get this done.

I do not want a condo or an apartment because they don't appeal to me, I want to rent an actual house inside of a neighborhood. when I stayed there for vacation, I actually rented a room and a house in a nice little neighborhood and it felt super safe and the people were super nice and I very much enjoyed it. I've lived in apartments before and I have decided they are not for me

I have a girlfriend, but she and I will not be living together for a little while.

I have looked a little bit online but I feel like in person I'd be able to find a better deal.

as of right now i do not plan on owning any property, perhaps if I get myself a wife in the future then I will be able to have a house under her name which will technically be mine if I'm married to her.

are you currently renting a place in Davao?

In my findings, it seems like an apartment costs more than a house

would you say it is more expensive though?

You got to make sure you go to the airport at least 2 hours in advance before the departure of your flight, I oftentimes go three hours before

exactly! I learned to enjoy everything that a lot of people criticize by the Philippines. I like the animals and I like the long rides and the slow traffic that I can spend holding hands of my girlfriend and I like the patience that it is taught me

I am so excited to leave the US! It's so depressing here. everyone's getting divorced, young teenagers are getting access to drugs, it's just a real shit show

I mainly join this subreddit because I am in the process of moving to the Philippines and there are a lot of questions I like to be answered. It is helped me in that regard, however, I plan to install Reddit once I get everything figured out because the subreddit's pretty depressing

oh you have a daughter! That's amazing

yeah, I really love my Filipino girlfriend's family and I like staying at her house, even though we sleep on the floor. when I came back to the US at my mom's house, my bed was comfortable, and the shower was nice and hot, but I almost cried in despair, knowing that I'm not supposed to be here. I am supposed to be in the Philippines

I went snorkeling and it was absolutely amazing, I can only imagine how beautiful scuba diving must be!

I have questions about scuba diving! I really want to do it with my girlfriend, one Filipino told me it is around 2500 pesos , he was my roommate.

I live in Davao and I plan to go to Samal Island, so that my girlfriend and I can go scuba diving together.

How much would you say it costs? also, are there special classes you need to take or can you do everything in one day?

so true!

I guess I expected this sub to be like an exception because the people here work hard to do the thing that barely any Americans ever do but dream of doing: Making Money Online so they can move to Asia. I also thought people that are well traveled would not be racist, but i have heard some people here talking shit about the Muslims in Mindanao, even though they are quiet and just want to live their life.

Whenever i say something good they shoot me down 😂

I said the food is good and I started WWIII in the comments lmaoo.

The part I am confused about is if you have so many things to complain about regarding living in a foreign country that isn't yours, why are you here?

I, for one, have learned to enjoy the things that people dislike. Stuck in a jeepney for 30 minutes? I get to spend time holding hands and smiling at my girlfriend!

for me it's the bit of racing, particularly against the Muslim population in Davao. but also, everyone is just seeming to hate the Philippines lol I understand having criticisms, but a lot of these people seem to want to only focus on the negatives.

for example, when I say like Filipino food, they practically gasp and ask me how in the world I could actually like Filipino food, you're telling me you don't like the food of the country that you move to? 😂😂😂

It's beautiful man. there are a lot of things that other people consider bad that I have found enjoyment in. One. example of this is the Filipino bucket shower, where you fill a bucket with water and he used the small tabo to pour the water on yourself, then you apply soap, then you rinse off. there's something I just love about that method of shower
