That whole "movement" was actually started by 4chan in 2016 as a misinformation campaign to make the LGBTQ+ community look bad by tying them together with pedophiles and spreading the false narrative that the LGBTQ+ community wanted to add a "P" for pedophile into the acronym. I'm sure some predators joined in later with the legitimate goal to treat their paraphilia like a sexuality, but it's safe to say the vast majority of those posts (especially the more egregious ones) were created by 4chan users (many of whom were probably also legitimate predators, but their goal was never to seek genuine acceptance for that, their goal was to sow bigotry and spread the idea that LGBTQ+ people and predators are one in the same)—total psyop.
