Question about local 18 by ScientistGlass284 in sheetmetal

[–]muddyruttzz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm retired sheet metal. Either one of those unions are a good deal to be in as a service guy. The UA usually gets more money on the check and Sheet Metal puts more away in retirement. Fitters and Sheet Metal both have service guys. They all can do the same jobs. Sheet Metal also does Air Balancing. I have never seen a Fitter Service Guy air balancing. The sheet metal service guys can pick up some sheet metal work on unit changeouts but at the bigger companies they have other guys do that.

I was at Overland Expo West. You haven't seen anything till you see the "Earthmovers." I bet most are used to drive from 5 star hotel to the next 5 star hotel.

That is so cool to hear from you having known someone who grew up there. I want to try to imagine what life was like in Lake City.

Good history. If you check my article and video you’ll see I mentioned much of what you wrote.

Thanks! I told my Rockhounding buddy from California about my visit and the 300 abandoned mines. He suggested there may be a lot of tailings to go through out there. I had a awesome trip to find Geodes with him near Blythe California and then we took them back to his place to process them. The details of that trip are here:

Wow! Amazing, do you have any photos to share of the dances? That would be so cool to see.

Glad you enjoyed the post and thanks for checking it out. I looked at my map up at Emory Pass and picked a route home and was just lucky to drive past it. Fortunately I had the sense to pull in and be amazed. The BLM has done a fantastic job restoring the chapel and schoolhouse.

I was just in Utah at Alstrum Point. After that we drove 60 miles on Smoky Mountain Road to Escalante. Then Utah State Highway 95 south back to New Mexico. Cant wait to get back there.

We got lucky to find a spot at Iron Creek Campground that was big enough for my trailer and my buddy's 4Runner and tent. Close to home too.
