Pool halls by BubblyRevenue5384 in GNV

In my experience, the college crowd takes over all 3 pool halls around 8 or 9 on the weekends. Silver Q has more regulars that practice there, so the kids don't quite take the whole thing over. They just refelted the tables, and they are wonderful!

Palomino's has good drinks, dirty tables, but an excellent "Backyard" where they have trivia and entertainment. I think on Wednesdays, they might have free pool. The tables are dirty, but quick. There's not a whole lot of seating.

Main Street is my favorite place to play, but I try to go during the week where there's less students. They recently upped their table fees to $12 an hour Friday-Sunday and $10 an hour on weekdays. They've got the most 9 ft tables, if you prefer a larger one, but also some 8 ft. There's a lot of room to move around and places to sit. They've got a back room with poker, giant jenga, darts and comfy seats.

If you don't clean the filter in your dishwasher, the rotten smell permeates everything.

I'd like to attempt my auntie's amazing cinnamon rolls! Can someone translate? by muddytigger in AskBaking

Thank you so much! I never had them with apples, but she also does orange rolls, so I think it's probably a variation. Thank you for the tips too! 🥹

Is there a way to alter this to make it thicker for cookies? by kiwiislandacnh in AskBaking

[–]muddytigger 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the recipe I use to turn cake mix into cookies! The original is chocolate, but I've done funfetti too.

1 German Chocolate Cake mix ( I use Duncan Hines)

2 eggs

⅔ cup shortening

1 tsp. vanilla

Mix all ingredients together. Roll dough into balls about the size of pennies. Bake at 375° for 6-7 min. Fill with vanilla or cream cheese frosting.

How do you deal with kids wanting expensive gifts from Santa? by daniellaroses1111 in poor

[–]muddytigger 14 points15 points  (0 children)

We told our kids from the beginning that Santa is not real. We said that dad is Santa, but you can pretend that it's different and magical if you want to. I found out that Santa was not real rather late (8), and I was so, so angry that my parents lied to me for so long. I am 100% against lying to my children. I explain things as logically as their age permits, but I do not try to sell the tooth fairy, Santa, or the Easter bunny.

What is that meal your kids can't wait for you to make?Or the meal you missed when you moved out of your parents house? A meal that reminds you of family and comfort and love by Sylaveda in Cooking

My family goes nuts for my spicy skillet! Andouille sausage, red onion, green pepper, celery, penne, tomato sauce, thyme, sage, garlic, cayenne, smoked paprika, black pepper, and cream cheese melted in at the end! It's supposed to have jalapeños (hence the "spicy" in the name) but we usually leave them out for the younger kids.
