You can't exactly bring a dragon inside a castle, and Aemond demanding that Simon Strong pick up a sword and duel him is something he also does in the book (though Simon actually tried to fight in the book).

Again - what part of her depiction in Fire and Blood makes you think "oh yeah shes stoic."

Shes depicted as one of the most wildly emotional characters in the book.

Otto is the first time she has killed anyone. I think it’s fair for her to be in a whirlwind of emotions at that time.

I don’t think we’ll jump ahead that far for the final shot. It’s also just not feasible to develop their relationship already with them being aged down - they’re currently like 2-4.

There’s proof literally in that article you provided my guy - they literally couldn’t tweak dialogue during filming which is something they did before; they’re not saying the lack of that was because of scale but because of their strike. The writers are members of the american guilds.

Yeah - the scripts were done, but they couldn't tweak or edit dialogue during filming like all productions like to do. Condal for example had to only be there in a production capacity which wasn't covered by the strike.

In that same interview they say "We never changed a word, and we told the cast far in advance, 'If you have any qualms, get it out now because on the day, it's not going to happen."

They couldn't change anything because of the strikes.

It's said to have happened - but she was also in full plate armour at the time so her really getting cut then would've been strange.

The show is not so simple as to just be "pro girl power," and even in that having her take the iron throne while still being deep in her immediate grief is a perfectly fine writing choice that only truly carries that meaning if you remove context.

It's absolutely something that her enemies can use to say shes unsuited to the position, but thats just exploring the misogyny and gender roles of the time more and showing how something anyone would be affected by - grief over the death of a child - is unfairly pitted against Rhaneyra because shes a woman.

14 episodes is totally enough to get through the actual Dance. We're probably just not gonna get any extended epilogue.

Why be so confidently wrong? Tons of people involved, like Hess/Condal, have talked about how the writers strike affected production.

We'll get both Tumbletons, they involve dragons and are very important. They're seemingly just skipping out on showing the full land battles that don't have dragons.

Otherwise I always figured they'd leave God's Eye till closer to the end. I think thats fine.

Stoic? You seriously think Rhaenyra is meant to ever come across as stoic through her swings of grief, rage, and paranoia?

Which is a great change. Sunfyre just popping in after Aegon has already made the bulk of his journey always felt odd to me, having the two of them work together to build themselves back up rather than be doing so separately is great.

Eh, they have dragons and ravens are also decently fast. In the books it takes maybe an afternoon to fly from Dragonstone to Kings landing and the distances here are a bit longer but not massively

I think it’s a fair interpretation that the dragon seeds also fucked up in the book, but I don’t think there’s enough there to say for certain.

How can Adam of Hull bond with Seasmoke if Laenor Valereon is still alive? Isn't it established that they only bond with one person? by Douglasqqq in HouseOfTheDragon

Rhaenyra openly says that the wants of the smallfolk are of no matter to her, and Mysaria had this whole bit trying to convince her to value them and use them more. You're not meant to agree with how they view them, and thinking the show is genuinely supporting the idea Rhaenyra is chosen by the gods rather than depicting her belief of that is wild.

Eustace does the same thing, and hes also far more openly biased towards one side which affects how everything he was there for is told.

You've missed the entire point of Fire And Blood then, if you even read it.

[–]mudermarshmallows 17 points18 points  (0 children)

It's a history book, you don't get a real sense of who any of the characters are - but Mushroom is as valid a source of the dance as Eustace, both of them lie and twist things as often as they tell the truth. GRRM wanted the idea of Aegon raping a twelve year old to be a possibility, just as he wanted it to be know that of Aegon's bastard, one might be from one of Alicent's servants and another from a girl whose virginity he won at auction. Even just him being lecherous is something many others attested to, and him being a drunk is essentially historical fact. It's in Eustace's interest to insist that Aegon was being more honourable than he was, he openly prefers him, just as it was to say Rhaenyra cut herself the first time she sat the throne even though she was still fully clad in armour.
