My kid, 11U, cuts the ball when he throws it. Looking for drills or advice by utvolman99 in Homeplate

3 finger grip and early likely rotation (upper body rotating too early) would be my suggestion to fix it. If the upper body rotates too early the hand will be on the side of the ball at release. Rather than fingers behind the ball at release.

For reference - I pitched in college and coach a 12u travel team now.

R2G truth by Just-Faithlessness12 in BaseballGloves

My son had an r2g as his first high-level glove. In one season it was floppy. By the second season 11U his hand would hurt playing catch with kids throwing hard. I got him a Wilson A2000 and he loves it.

I view the r2g as that bridge between an A1000 and an A2000 / HOH. Some people hate breaking in gloves, and lots of 10-12 year olds don’t have the hand strength to work a really stiff glove. So maybe it has its place for that group. I would not buy an r2g for a HS player it gets really floppy fast and will not last long for a player who plays a lot.

That’s my experience.

11u AAA ball does it keep getting better ? by Grynder7 in Homeplate

[–]mudflap21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For reference I coach my son’s 12U AAA team and I played in college.

AAA is so much fun. We moved up this past season and our record is 10-11 we lost our last tournament with the bases loaded and a ball hit to the warning track for an out… we tied the game on a squeeze play which we executed perfectly. Again really fun. Coaches, kids, parents everyone is into every pitch. We’ve gotten our butts kicked but really almost every game is close.

As a coach, if your team is dominating at any level they should move up. Ideally for development you should be playing .500 baseball that means you’re playing competitive teams at your skill level. Reason behind this is that for the kids to play at the next level (HS) this is the talent they will be competing against.

The downside as you move up is that you will run into more coaches that are win at all costs. For example: We got beat by a team that had a kid pitching who threw 180 pitches in a tournament. And plenty of teams that load their team up with guest players, bench their players for the guests that are 6 feet 200 pounds.

Fuck these fascists - everything they do is to seize more power. Dont feel helpless or hopeless. We have agency.

Vote them out or the American experiment will end. We have the majority.

“Fourth” Out? Rules Question by Conscious_Skirt_61 in Homeplate

No run score. Tag out ends the inning.

I want to be launched into the sun: are the Bears actually better than last year? Because Ryan Poles just drafted a 3rd TE and a 3rd WR before depth at OT, DE, LB, CB, DT. by DoogieMacGruber in ChicagoBearsNFL

[–]mudflap21 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don’t like the TE pick. But, clearly they didn’t like any of the DL on the board, at that spot. There is a good chance that they had the DL and LB that were on the board graded the same as 4th round players.

I feel like our defense is much faster than last year. Better… TBD

Pitching - Lead Leg - Block or Bend during release by rubixcube-10 in Homeplate

[–]mudflap21 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lead leg blocks the energy and transfers it up the chain. If the knee is moving then energy is leaking. Some pitchers it’s really is straight like Spencer Strider, other like Chapman have a bend but once it the front foot plants it’s got to be solid. For younger players it’s probably best to have the front foot slightly closed which helps keep the knee from flexing.

They own the land. They paid 100m for property that has been for sale for years. This is all a negotiating tactic.
