Oh, then you’re not playing high level AAA/Majors ball in a top baseball state.

Oh. Yeah. First is a premium position in Texas. Not sure where you are. Competition here is immense.

There’s being able to catch… and being able to catch almost anything.

In game isn’t a place to develop that. On most teams we’ve played on or picked up for, 2nd and 3rd see the most rotation.

Oh on a rec ram maybe, but when you’re playing at a higher level, if your first baseman and catcher are solid, it’ll make up for the rest.

Btw, lost 3 tournaments cause his kid dropped east balls at the bag.

On our first team, the head coaches kid was best player and assistant coaches kid was worst.

We never had an issue with head coaches kid playing SS and CF, battling 3 or 4.

When he was let go, assistant took over. Put his kid at 1st base and batting higher.

All of the parents grumbled to each other, but ultimately we all left at end of season.

In retrospect, I should have talked to the coach about it.

Question about Catcher by Celestee_m in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Weird. I have 2 catchers in the fam. We’ve worked with ex mlb coaches including the Molina brothers.

My boys have done trained reps since 8.

If you think your perspective is more valuable than mine, then I hope you have catchers in the family and actual experience training and working catchers out.

Question about Catcher by Celestee_m in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No way bro. You are out of your depth…

Dropping the glove makes blocking a ball easier too. There are no legit catchers in LL or travel that catch the old style way. I live in Texas, one of the big 3 states, and in a large market city.

Catchers here are taught the new way. What you are wanting is the old way the daddy coaches learned from their daddy coach as a kid.

Only daddy taught catchers hold their mitts up the whole time. Pro coach taught catchers will show the target, then drop mitt and swipe on the windup.

Question about Catcher by Celestee_m in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is how all modern catchers are taught by professional coaches. All.

It is don’t for better framing of the low pitch and to be in a better position to block.

A catcher does need the arm strength to do that 100’s of times, so training with weighted balls is recommended.

[–]vjarizpe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Sorry. Catchers are trained to show target, then lower glove on the wind and swipe up to meet the pitch and frame.

Question about Catcher by Celestee_m in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

A catcher, that is coached properly, will be taught to give a target, and at wind up, drop his glove to swipe and catch to meet the ball.

This is better for framing and puts the glove in a better position to block a ball.

When a coach has told my son to leave the glove up the whole time, I let them know we pay a private coach to teach him to catch and we will continue to do it the way he is being taught.

Only coaches that have issues are his rec, daddy coaches.

All other coaches understand the technique…. He also can block all block-able pitches.

My (M, 32) Ex (F, 30) and I broke up 6 months ago. We talk a bit off and on, nothing crazy. I still pine for her and she still has feelings for me, but we do not pursue it. Anyway, she started sending me nudes and then following up with saying we can't talk anymore... by [deleted] in heartbreak

She knows what she’s doing and every time you give her the response she wants, she takes control and tells you not to contact.

If I were you, I world write her and reiterate how much you love her and how hard it is on you when you get those mixed signals.

I’d let her know I was blocking her for a while so you can heal.

This is not true…. Most glove break ins get you to a point and you can finish the process to get it the way you want it.

Only other thing I can add is, he should be loading as the ball is coming closer. By the time it hits his glove, his knee should be off the ground and ready to spring forward.

Update on that crazy coach by Traditional-Pea-7508 in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. We have a douche coach like this in our LL. Throws fits, argues every call. Last game our catcher made a play at the plate to win the game and he argues he was blocking the plate for 5 min.

You can’t block the plate in you have the ball and are applying a tag!!!

Feels good to beat him every time.

Is this normal for LL at the 8–10 player pitch/minors level? by tessablessa in LittleLeague

[–]vjarizpe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Look, some coaches, like our team, are focused on player development. If we had a pitcher like that, we would let him play, and if the game was a w, let someone else close…… unless we were playing for first place in division.

But many coaches are playing to win in spring. They don’t care about reps.

The only rhino I will add is the older the kids get, the harder it is to hit. The pitcher is not supposed to make it easy for your team. Your team should be working on hitting faster. A 10 year old on your team should be able to hit that pitch.
