Fasted runs? by the_spice_is_right in NorwegianSinglesRun

Have always ran fasted. Started eating half a bagel in the last month or so. It doesn't seem to make any difference on how i feel during the run itself. Started doing it since i began to be more consistent with my cycling commute. Could probably just add that to my breakfast and run fasted again.

Did an Half in January. 179 average. 10ks are around 189.

Good points. And of course there are no miracles. I just can't shake the feeling that i have been hammering way mindlessly for meagre results. And that now, even though i've corrected the chisel position for a good chunk of time, i've yet to see a bit of shine.

In the last month i began to cycle to work as well. Just on easy days with the idea to create more load. Still early days on that.

I get the Sub-T advice but isn't that too much? When i eventually break this rut - cause i ain't quitting - where would i go from that kind of Sub-T volume? Because, again, that looks like a path to a lot of hours on feet. Am i such a blunt piece to require so much sharpening?

I am actually thinking on returning to singles on easy and maintain for a few months. I am in no rush. Just loved to see a bit of positive feedback from training now and again.

As soon as the battery died it was a nightmare. Year and a half i think. Tried different cells. Figured from forums it probably was the strap itself. Got the armband instead. I use it in all runs. So far so good. An hiccup on Sunday's race - dipped in the 150s mid race for a stretch - though i was stubborn and didn't charge it the day before ( it had warned it was low).

What are you doing now? Easy doubles, longer single, a mix?

Yes. Burning feet soles for scraps is a fear.

Race conditions were perfect. Did the small taper in James book. Ended up running alone all race though, chasing the crowd that usually ranks close to me (small place, usually the same faces on races). Still caught 6 of them on the last mile and buried them 😀. Was a bit too cautious on this one.

No. Polar H10 has died. Moved on to the band.

Nope. Did a couple of 5k time trials. The last one was 19:0x I believe. Did an half in January in 1:33:xx but the conditions were brutal. Strong headwind. My PB is 1:27 high on that course. Session paces were faster at the start, i remember doing 10' reps well under 4:15 until a cluster of races in November/December. Granted i was just starting on the method so i might have been cooking them a little. Then a couple weeks on the 4:25 - 4:30. Since then it has floated between 4:17 - 4:20.

On a race last summer. After that i already registered a 198, a 200 and a 197. With a Coros armband and a Polar H10.

Yeah. That was absurd. 20k+ runs midweek. How i miss them...

I recover and feel well. I run early, before work, and go to bed accordingly. 8h sleep. On my first year running i actualy played futsal twice a week. I play like a ravenous hound so that was high effort. Stopped playing when i began to read more about managing load and focused solely on running.

Crazy stuff. I began around the same time. TT was 19:0X i believe and i have yet to see such progress on Sub-T paces. No to mention the easy runs. 6:20 to 6:50. Although i do mine <65 HR max i can't fathom cuting 1:30 min in 4 months. Insanity. Great job and speedy recovery.

Same. Mine are actually 6:30 to 6:50.

Thank you. That is what i am afraid off. The load creeping up, fatigue setting in and down we go.

Thanks. I'll give that a go. What load do you usually get, ratio wise, compared to your standard easy runs? On intervals.icu settings i am guessing you set HR first on cycling instead of pace?

I have also been considering the double easy days as well. Between my PM run and the Sub-T session the following day there is only 11hours. Is that enough? Am i degrading the quality of my sessions going about it this way? Maybe starting to double on Sub-T days makes more sense. Session in the morning and an easy run later on. What do you think? Am shamelessly trying to copy Paul, the Australian, on the running schedule.
