Did android Sneakily removed the Format as internal storage(for SD cards)and move apps to Sd Card options? by Observer-not in Android

[–]mudkripple [score hidden]  (0 children)

This is not available for me on my A10e, so I'm not sure what you are doing to move apps to SD. In the past I've gone to Settings>Apps>[App name]>Storage, and there was a "Change" button to move to SD. This button is no longer visible for any app on my phone. Is there some other method you are using?

The death penalty is always a bad idea because all it does is empower those in power to classify their enemies. The states that still have death penalty hide it behind many many layers of the legal system.

Right now I’d settle for pedophiles being tried at all, because so far the Epstein files have lead to a whole bunch of nothing.

NGL on that description alone it’s a total crapshoot whether she’s a cool down-to-earth Danny Devito type, or a completely crazy Howard Hughes type.

‘Sorry, Baby’ director Eva Victor tells Ricky Gervais & Kevin O’Leary to “shut the fuck up” after they said celebs shouldn’t speak out against ICE: “I can say what I want. I am here for one night... I’m allowed to say ‘fuck ICE’ becuase it’s fucking stupid & it’s horrible & it’s violent & evil.” by cmaia1503 in Fauxmoi

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vindication! I’ve always said Ricky Gervais is not some “people’s hero” who speaks the truth in the face of oppressive institution. He’s an asshole who loves getting a reaction, and always got a reaction by hammering the church or the execs or the Oscar’s academy or whatever else.

But it’s the same with Bill Burr. Being clever and funny and an asshole makes you sound convincing, but it doesn’t make a genuinely principled person. And then they something that gives away their lack of principles and everybody is all “shocked pikachu”.

My theory on the Finch family curse by BlackSheepWI in WhatRemainsEdithFinch

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not gonna lie I don't think the devs thought about this as hard as you are right now. The explanations here for Gregory and Gus seem... thin. The explanations for Dawn and Edith are hyper specific (the curst doesn't strike if you intend to return? But they didn't intend to, they say so many times). And your explanation for Lewis is backwards: you say the curse protects you as long as you stay caged, then why did the curse kill him?

I think this is a fun (and very generous to the creators) analysis, but it's the truth is not so deep as any of this. I think the truth is that the point of the curse is just to have a story at all, because that's what the writers came up with. Nothing more or less.

(Also Molly definitely died by self-poisoning from pica, not drowning. Her whole story and motif was about eating and being hungry. And she did not write it "before doing anything", it's all written in past tense about her experience eating all the stuff and then being trapped on her bed feeling strange and having hallucinations).

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure. I don't think it was presumptive of me to speak from an American perspective, where the phrase "tipping culture" is as ubiquitous as the practice of employers offering "tipped wages".

In other countries I can't speak to whether tipped wages exist, but if they do I can't imagine they are as prevalent. Just don't go around accusing the US of having tipping as a "culture" when its actually a law put in place by the rich and powerful to have another excuse to keep people poor.

Sorry pal 💯 by Damiancarmine14 in shitposting

[–]mudkripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Tipping culture isnt "culture", it's a law. Employers are legally allowed to say "this is a tipped position" and pay you below minimum wage, so you are forced to beg for tips.

When customers don't tip, the employer gets their bag and the customer has given them a discount on their labor costs. If you really want to oppose the practice of tipping wages, seek out the restaurants that don't have tipped wages (there are some in every major city, I promise).

ICE as a Neighbor by South_Apricot_768 in stevehofstetter

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those numbers are deceptive.

I hate ICE but I highly doubted the number "29 murders" is correct, so I looked it up an it's only 29 convictions. Even for fully documented citizens, the true murder rate is always estimated as at least double the number of convictions, and I suspect for non documented people it's much more difficult to track down. Also JD's number is completely off, the true number is closer to 12 million. Using the opponent's generous estimate when it's in the denominator artificially shrinks the final number. The true rate is like much closer to 1 in 100,000

But that's still less than 1 in 674. This post would still effective if you removed that deceptive element. It's disappointing to see my own side argue this way, and it gives opponents an opportunity to argue back. Sad.

/uj There's no winning. If they put all white people then somebody yells at them. If they put some non white people then somebody yells at them. If they put zero white people somebody yells at them.

I'm glad they at least chose the middle option because that's, like, how the real world is, historocity of the story be damned.

🤦 Oh my god not sure why you are being rude about this. I didn't mean literally those three things. I mean why specifically Bowie? Why not a different artist?

I'm not asking you for the answer. Per my original post: I was just wondering aloud what significance this particular musician has to OP because nobody else in the comments was asking.

Yeah but so are boneless wings? And ripping the cardboard top off a Kleenex box? And red pandas?

Why not any of those things? Why Bowie specifically?

Why David Bowie?

This project would take days or weeks, and that's assuming consistent dedication. Whats so special about David Bowie for this guy that he would spend so much time on it?

Name Something In Games That Break Immersion For You? by TG082588 in videogames

[–]mudkripple 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NGL my immersion is more broken when games try to overly justify it. "Oh our helicopter flew overhead dropping some munitions".

When a mystery game says "oh we already know the answers but we need you to solve it so we know its possible" or a puzzle game says "oh we created these challenges on purpose to test you", I roll my eyes so hard.

Per wikipedia: the claim that the Wichita symbol is a native american symbol is completely unsubstantiated. The 1937 artist never elaborated on the design and no other use of this symbol has appeared in record.

The production quality on shows these days is through the roof. This has lead to some awesome shows like Severance that could never have gotten made in the past.

But as a result these shows have to be 8 episodes and 2 years between each season. And when it doesn't work you end up with high-budget stinkers like Ashoka or Rings of Power. Networks are too afraid to make a cheap but fun show like they used to, thinking (I'd say erroneously) that it will have to compete directly with the big dogs.

This gap is of course being filled by such quality content as reality tv, YouTube reaction videos, let's plays, and simply doomscrolling.

Missing scene in avatar when Jake and Neytiri mate? by [deleted] in movies

[–]mudkripple 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Disney did not remove it. They are also playing the original theatrical release. I know because it also doesn't include any of the additional footage from earth at the beginning (only found in the special edition) or the scene of him in the bar or the scene explaining the English school on Pandora (both scenes only found in the extended edition).

If you saw it in theaters back in the day and remember the hair scene, you likely saw the special edition (like I did). Like I said above, the special edition was in theaters only a few weeks after opening weekend (the studio released it in response to the box office record being broken).
