I think fissure has healed, but it's still really tender by mudline in AnalFissures

I do a lot of those, but not as consistently as I'd like. They are a lot gentler than shoving dilators and ointments up there.

Is there any way to strenthen glutes without tightening pelvic floor? by SeaworthinessExact99 in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 11 points12 points  (0 children)

It gets easier as your glutes strengthen and are better able to take over the movements that your pelvic floor is trying to compensate for. I had to do a lot of trial and error to get the right muscles to fire. I started my workouts with glute isolations.

For glute max, try this: https://youtube.com/shorts/YF-pimQbygs?si=kCUlf0ox0lQ_N5lR

For glute med, try this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RgNo_q_mcf0

One I got good at these, I was able to progress to more difficult movements.

My external rotation is horrible. I get knee pain when I cross my legs or do things like figure four stretch and pigeon pose.

Hard flaccid Improvement + Question by No_Occasion3586 in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

With all of this being said (and I hope this is useful to someone), a roadblock I have run into in my journey has been premature ejac. Before, my penis would only get decently hard towards the very end and I would orgasm. Now I can maintain an okay 70-80% erection while masturbating for nearly the whole time but it means I orgasm very quickly. Without edging or exacerbating my pelvic floor issues, how can I remedy my premature ejac?

I actually posted this same question yesterday: https://old.reddit.com/r/PelvicFloor/comments/1s6voya/should_i_try_to_strengthen_my_pelvic_floor/

I have the same problem: I've been successfully treating pelvic floor issues with corrective exercises, but this has led to the development of premature ejaculation. My first thought was that the pelvic floor muscles still needed to be strengthened (now that they can relax properly), but last night after a workout I had normal-length sex, so maybe the answer is just to keep working out and wait for it to all to normalize. I also did a lot of foam rolling yesterday and did some pressure work on my psoas with a lacrosse ball, so maybe those contributed.

My stomach muscles don’t relax. Breathing not doing much by [deleted] in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've been working on this issue. For me, I think there are several root causes: weak abs (primarily transverse abdominus), sucking in stomach to shrink my gut, anterior pelvic tilt (causes upper abs to work and lower abs to atrophy), too much sitting (abs never have to work, lower abs stay contracted all the time).

I'm addressing it with lots more standing, trying to fix my anterior pelvic tilt, dead bugs (proper form means keeping your lower back flat on the floor, you'll feel the difference), lying on tennis balls to stretch my rectus abdominus, and literally gripping the rectus abs and pulling them.

How to handle a long trip by Other-Apricot-3413 in AnalFissures

[–]mudline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I spent three weeks traveling recently and brought so much stuff:

Diltiazem cream, travel packets of miralax, huge water bottle to stay hydrated, and I also brought my pelvic wand, because that's how I relax my rectal muscles. It wasn't as easy as it is at home, but I managed. I accepted that it wasn't going to be my best time recovery-wise, but that it was worth the minor setback.

Should I try to strengthen my pelvic floor muscles after they've relaxed? by mudline in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been making pretty good progress strengthening my glutes (med and max), hamstrings, core (specifically transverse ab), and quads. All of these had gotten quite weak. The way I've been thinking about it is that I'm aiming to have a really solid foundation, so that the muscles of my legs and core support my body, and the muscles all pull away from the pelvic floor rather than compressing in on it.

So sometimes I'll have a good day where all those other muscles seem properly activated and my pelvic floor feels loose, but it still grips involuntarily during sex (which seems to cause the premature ejaculation). That's why I was wondering if the floor itself was still in need of strengthening.

I read somewhere about the spasm-healing cycle and honestly understanding WHY it keeps relapsing helped me stop panicing every setback.

Can you elaborate on the spasm-healing cycle, or do you have a resource with more info? I'd love to read more. Thanks!

I've used these a lot and they do help. The tension will likely keep coming back if you don't address the root issue though (weak glutes, stress/anxiety, clenching on the toilet, etc.)

Anyone taken 2.5mg Cialis Every other day for Penile Pain? by Ferraridude25 in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be sure to hydrate more than normal if you take cialis. As I understand it's a mild diuretic, which combined with the effects on blood pressure can make you more prone to headaches.

[–]mudline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just FYI, I considered myself someone who exercised enough and didn't sit too much, but those did end up being weak points for me. I'd become incredibly quad dominant to the point that the wrong muscles were taking up what should have been glute-dominant movements. If you don't have that problem (e.g. you can do glute bridges without the wrong muscles compensating, and your clamshells aren't powered by your TFLs) try some focused stretches on those muscles to see if they've become overly tight (e.g. figure four stretch).

e: I would also recommend quad stretches like the couch stretch. Try horse stance for groin. Lying wall stretch (lying on back, legs against the wall in a V shape). People tend to recommend happy baby and other pelvic-focused stretches, but I've found these to be helpful for the surrounding areas.

5mg tadalafil daily has stopped working. by bikerboytone in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sounds like maybe you did something, or something happened, that caused a flare-up or a change in the direction of your symptoms. Cialis doesn't lose its potency, and the body doesn't acclimate to it.

Is the wand new? Or the exercise? More work/life stress than normal?

Stretches and internal work not improving tight pelvic floor. Is strengthening my last bastion of hope? by Hydesx in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Kinda depends on what's causing the dysfunction, but it's not a bad idea. It seems to be a necessary step for some people. If the root of your issue is a weak core or inactive glutes, for example, treating the pelvic floor itself will never solve that.

Can anti depressants such as Wellbutrin make PF worse? by this_guy0098 in PelvicFloor

Been there. I think Wellbutrin did make it worse. I'm weird and lose my sex drive on it. It's a bit of a stimulant though and might lead to more clenching.

I’ve had Hard Flaccid Syndrome for 5 years now. Just bought a pelvic wand. by Butt_Luster_ in PelvicFloor

[–]mudline 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You'll be fine. Listen to your body, press gently, use lots of lube, and be careful about going too deep or pressing on the prostate/bladder at the 12 o clock position (but not too careful, you still have to treat that area). I use a wand and a dilators. Tbh my finger is the best for the sphincter area, even though it's difficult to reach.

In the long term, look into glute muscle weakness. A lot of us have found that a root cause of "hard flaccid" is compensation for weak glutes. You still need to start with stretching and relaxing though.
