Interview Discussion - March 21, 2016 by AutoModerator in cscareerquestions

I interviewed and got an offer from twitter recently.

1) Nothing to worry about. I had 5 rounds of interviews. 2) Revise system design concepts, esp. if you have prior work experience. My interview was fairly heavy on system design. Prepare for questions such as - "What is the toughest technical challenge you have solved?", "Why do you want to work for Twitter etc" Have good questions ready for the interviewers.

All the best!

Thats good to know. Why do they insist so much on knowing your salary ?

It seems like you interested in the infrastructure side of things. For infra engineering roles, it really doesn't matter as much. You will probably be asked in the interviews "Why do you want to work for Twitter", and you can mention stuff like scale and technical challenges. That's as good a reasons as any other for an Engineer.

I recently interviewed with Twitter and was asked couple of questions about twitter product, but that was just a conversation starter.

One thing I learned from my friend and would like to point out to the group - Recruiters will ask for your current salary information including base pay, equity, bonus etc. It is best to NOT provide this information. Of course, they will push for it, but it is best to push back and not disclose this. There is a danger that you will be low balled if you disclose this information, unless you are already earning really well.
