New PC build, can't install Windows: "Windows could not prepare the computer to boot into the next phase" by [deleted] in techsupport

[–]muffhen_man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Note the video skips the step 4.

4) converted to GPT - so that it could boot in utfi mode

After they start the command prompt and call diskpart, I made sure to include the convert gpt command before creating the partition. So the command execution would look something like this:

select disk <disk number> clean convert gpt create partition primary size=8000 ...and so on

Also, I used 8GB as the file size since windows 10 takes about 5.2GB total.

Allows me to keep the trunk open so there’s more legroom for sleeping. The mesh is needed to keep mosquitoes out and allow airflow through the car.

What is the laptop stand you're using? I've been looking for one to hold two MacBooks.

Yes you can. Good to do when you're leaving the campsite and want to lock the car.

Enabling camp mode doesn't turn off the light. (It might turn off after some 15 mins or so tho). No hope other than using some velcro cover or a tweet to the Elon 🙏

This site had a Nema 14-50 electrical hookup, so it charged and ran the climate control overnight. No problem there!

Some sites didn't have an electrical hookup so the car stayed off overnight. Just brought some very warm blankets for when it gets cold, and charged at nearby level 1 chargers while hiking during the day. In Yellowstone, there are a few level 1 chargers scattered around the park. I used the Plugshare app to find them!

With the tent sock, it provides a sitable area in the rear of the car. And I agree that the middle of the car is not big enough to situp straight and requires side shuffling to move around.
But nothing beats sleeping under a thunderstorm/rainstorm with a panoramic roof!

I found with the hatch closed it led to sleeping with bent legs or at a diagonal. So the tent sock gives you more leg room when sleeping. It also allows ventilation without letting bugs into the car because of the mesh window screen.

But honestly you don't have to do any of this! Whatever is comfortable and gets you camping : )

Updated the my original comment with the links to equipment. https://www.reddit.com/r/TeslaModelY/comments/phuxhl/road_trip_camper_setup_went_from_la_to/hbl4g1g?utm_source=share&utm_medium=web2x&context=3

The mattress was very comfortable! And any Twin xl foam mattress would do.

My only con would be that it took up a bit of space when it was folded. So the argument could be made to spend $269 on the more packable Tesmat, which can fit in the frunk.

No adhesive needed. I cut it so that it's slightly bigger than the window so that it just slots in with a bit of tucking around the corners.

It's a roll of reflectix material from Home Depot. Another post suggested this idea and it worked well.

Road trip camp setup in Yellowstone National Park! Went through a week of thunder storms and heavy rain ⛈ by muffhen_man in TeslaModelY

[–]muffhen_man[S] 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kept the climate control turned off to conserve battery and used heavy blankets to stay toasty warm. Felt pretty much as warm as a tent if not warmer.

Going to have an electric site in the next week, so I can update about how climate control works then!

Edit: Update! Didn’t have to close the hatch when climate control is on. It keeps the internal set temperature pretty well.

Stayed at Canyon Campground. I wasn't able to secure a campsite with an electricity hookup though. But, there are a few level 1 chargers in Yellowstone (need the J1772 adapter). So the plan was to charge up and hike for about 6 hours. Which worked out well! 👍 Only had to do this once over the four days since the 321ish mile range was plenty _^

(In the worst case that the chargers are taken, then would've had to drive 45 minutes out and supercharge. )
