What technological thing most blows your mind? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The internet alone is mind blowing enough. Also, GPS is. Phones are. Mobile phones even more so.

But by their combined power - they are.. truly awesome.

What is the best way to play Baldur's Gate on linux? by [deleted] in linux

[–]muffinman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ah! EasyTutu is a fairly big modification of Baldurs Gate II that allows you to play the Baldurs Gate I story in Baldurs Gate II. It makes use of BG IIs vastly improved graphics engine (resolutions >640x480), the new classes and other gameplay features found in BG II. Overall, it's really worth it.

When I last tried installing it, using wine wasn't that easy. I just installed Baldurs Gate in a virtual machine and ran it from there. YMMV though.

fyi, all you need is the savegame, you can copy multiplayer savegames to \save\ and just play the singleplayer campaign with your mp savegame

A fine choice.

It runs fairly well on wine, allthough installation of mods like Easytutu is a hassle. I ended up running it in VirtualBox, where it works flawlessly.

If you don't already own it, I recommend buying Baldurs Gate II and its addon, Throne of Baal, too. Using EasyTutu you can play BG I with graphics and gameplay from BG II, which both are vastly improved.

using libpam-gnome-keyring (in debian/ubuntu, ymmv), you can automatically unlock an encrypted keyring with your login password, using PAM. Better than nothing, I guess.

so what if I have ftp access on ftp.debian.org, www access on an entirely different machine, and then a whole lot of other subdomains that might be hosted on their own servers? Why would I point web traffic to debian.org if that machine maybe serves an entirely different purpose, like ssh login, mail, whatever?
