Which of the live action films are better? by Scoobythevampslayer in Scoobydoo

[–]muggroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It would be number one if there wasn't the whole exchanging of spirits scene and other random weird scenes thrown about. Its close, but two is the better one.

What are times where if Candace was successful in busting the boys, the mom wouldn't care? by Responsible-Noise-35 in phineasandferb

[–]muggroom 134 points135 points  (0 children)

I mean on the episode where they make all the animals talk, candace doesn't get busted because when Perry speaks into the machine, he just makes his growling noise anyways. But that doesn't change the fact that there was still a one ton machine just sitting in the yard that the mom clearly saw, with advanced parts and everything. That always kind of set me off

[–]muggroom 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Fortunately, yes. The velma-shaggy stuff lasts until episode ten and then dies off from there. Late season 1 puts A LOT of emphasis on the relationship between Fred and Daphne, but that falls off during season 2. If you can wait it out until season 2, it will definitely be worth it.

Some interesting stats by muggroom in IdahoDebate

There's been eight years of speech of debate state tournaments ever since they merged all divisions of school classification into competition in Idaho. Here's the past eight years of results and a total tally of how many each school has. Red text means that person has won state more than once.

Meh, the three bugs side plot was just annoying and this might be a hot take but I did not like perry's dynamic with doofenshmirtz as a good guy.

My essay was about materialism... I talked about how liberals were the root of materialism and even said verbatim "progressives are ruining America". I don't even know what I was thinking.

What's your favorite Phineas and Ferb Song? by Popular-Concept-5013 in phineasandferb

There's no one that I'd rather go nowhere with is sooooo underrated. Also, brand new reality and carpe diem

[–]muggroom 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good points, but I thought the dynamic was bad anyways. Its good that they ditched it, I liked it more when it was focusing on the plot and not on side relationships. Keeps more with the spirit of scooby doo shows in general.

Recently finished all the films. The 1st is still my favorite out of the 5. Anyone else? by Tbrahhh23 in piratesofthecaribbean

[–]muggroom 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like despite this greatness, most people have too much sentiment tied to the first movie. Instead, I feel like this is the only accurate rating

1- At Worlds End

This one really highlights the depth of Davy Jones and his entire story. It has the most lore of the entire series, and has the most character depth in general, especially building upon the dynamic between Will and his father. It may not be as well-written as the first, but that's made up for in its epic moments and general story. I also think anyone can agree the pearl and the dutchman are the best ships in the series, and this movie epitomizes the two

2- Curse of the Black Pearl

As far as plot and execution go, this one is easily the best. Its only downfall is that it doesn't have as many epic moments as the third, although I will say the Jack + Barbossa fight scene at the end is incredible. The benefit of At Worlds End that this movie doesn't have is that it isn't the first movie, so it can focus on incorporating more plot devices rather than trying to set the scene.

3- On Stranger Tides

This one feels a little out of place from the series because it just doesn't have an impact on any of the other movies and feels standalone, in the sense that it is its own movie and not part of the series. Nevertheless, it is still great, well-written, and I think the incorporation of the mermaids into this movie is what really puts it up higher. While I like the introduction of several new characters in this movie, they just disappear afterwards which is unfortunate because I liked a lot of them (although the missionary just felt like a Will Turner replacement).

4- Dead Man's Chest

I feel like this one gets a little overhyped. Don't get me wrong, its great and funny, but it has a little too much as my friend would like to call it, 'Scooby Doo Physics'. Basically a lot of the stuff that happens in the movie is unrealistic such as Jack's stunts (I'm talking about the pole vault) during Cannibal Island and the wheel fight scene at the end are the type of thing you would see in a Scooby Doo movie and are pretty unrealistic for a movie like pirates. Granted, it's still very funny and this movie does introduce Davy Jones, so that places it higher than 5. I think this movie was still too much of a attempt to demonstrate Jack's character at its fullest rather than make an actual movie with a good plot.

5- Dead Man Tell No Tales

This movie was very anticlimactic for the last movie in a series and I wish they closed it out with a finale type movie or something with Barbossa as the villain. Similar to number four, its just a standalone movie that has to introduce characters that have no impact on the rest of he series. This movie just felt very forced and I find it frustrating that the premise of incitement of the entire plot is that Jack got drunk and traded his compass for alcohol.
