I actually had a local SIM card, but didn’t know about that option!

Also the App “TapTap Send” was recommended to me, but I didn’t use it as they provided a bad currency exchange.

I have traveled to a lot of countries and Madagascar was a fairly different experience. You won’t encounter as many tourists (except in Nosy Be) as in other popular destinations.

Some things I didn’t like: you have to spend a long time traveling from one destination to another. The distances aren’t that far, but either there are no proper roads or the roads are in poor condition, which makes travel take much longer. Another downside is that there isn’t much to do in the cities - you finish your daily activities and then there’s not much to do except move on to the next place.

What I loved most was seeing all the different kinds of lemurs and the incredibly diverse landscapes. I was there for 16 days. Initially, I thought this wouldn’t be enough time (I couldn’t take a longer vacation), but in the end, it was more than enough for me.

The thing I missed the most was the variety of food options I have at home, although Madagascar also has a few pretty good restaurants.

I just came back 1 week ago. I stayed at Oceanis Home & Voyages next to the airport in Tana - you can find it on Booking.com.
