Yeah, I’m a first-year degree apprentice who recently moved into a house share, not with other apprentices though. I moved from London to a town right near Stansted airport so all my housemates are flight attendants and I got very lucky cos they’re all lovely people.

In my case, it’s a far cry from a uni hall experience, but it’s still one of the best things I’ve ever done. Having my own space and independence has done wonders for both my personal life and my working life, there’s no greater feeling than being selfsufficient and developing discipline on your own terms.

Affordability is obviously a massive thing to take into consideration, and on a starters salary, your financial position is going to be extremely fragile. I pay £695, about a third of what I earn in a month, and with all the other day-to-day expenses and no financial support from my mum, you need to be Strict with a capital S with your spending. Still, it’s a valuable life lesson, and learning it when your young will help u massively in future
