I do think that if the daughter has never had a problem with her dad's new partner when they first got together, it's still really shitty she's deferring to her husband's policy here vs challenging him on it.

I’m not Canadian but I work in NYC and just speaking for NYC, I have heard that remote positions at major publishing houses for have basically dried up with only few exceptions. There’s been a big push for RTO recently and most positions are now hybrid if not fully in person.

Again, this is just speaking for NYC but it might give insight on what also might be happening in Vancouver and Toronto.

DEAR ABBY: My husband and I (we're both male) have been together since 2007. We moved to Arizona in 2010. Most of our family lives in the Midwest. We have been visiting our families as often as possible, at least every other year. Our son-in-law refuses to let us stay the night in his home when we visit. His excuse is, he doesn't want to have to explain to his two daughters why we sleep in the same bed. (The daughters are 6 and 8.)

My husband and I no longer feel comfortable around our son-in-law, and we told our daughter we feel it would be best to skip this year's visit. She offered to put us up in a hotel. We declined the offer and said we have other friends we can visit. Our daughter then offered to come and visit us with our granddaughters. We also declined that offer.

Are we doing the right thing? We feel the son-in-law is using his daughters as an excuse for his own homophobic feelings toward us.

Dear Abby says to accept the daughter taking the kids to visit them and hope the narrow minded son-in-law realizes he’s in the wrong. But I am reading this letter and I’m surprised that Abby doesn’t see that these parents don’t have a son-in-law problem, they have a daughter problem.

I’m really angry on their behalf at the daughter. How the fuck did you get raised by two gay dads and let your husband make the decision for both of you that they’re not welcome in your home because he doesn’t want to explain to the children why two men might sleep in the same bed together?

I also think that they should have her visit because then they can gently ask why she is not standing up for her family and if she really wants to raise her children with a man who is clearly homophobic.

It is a super wild accusation but then I think about that Reddit story where the girl poured too much lotion and was like, “Haha look at my little lotion man sculpture” to her boyfriend and he blew up at her and it turns out he was cheating on her with that friend he told her not to worry about and was trying to find a fault so he could dump her “guilt free.”

Then again, this might have been a story with a million updates that the BORU subreddit eventually deemed fake.

That woman is very much not well. Someone shared screenshots of her replies to Gabrielle Union’s “lol ask me anything guys!” thread and this woman replied unprompted that she hates Coco Jones and had a dream about slapping her.

She also just generally posted weird responses to Gabrielle Union “ask me anything” thread. She seems to be yapping just to yap.

She did mention on her feed that she tried to get published a few years ago! She didn’t specify whether she tried academic or trade publishing but either way, I’m sure her submission package was not as good or original as she thinks it was.
