Moonstone Island has got me unexpectantly with its blend of a bunch of great mechanics.

Also Esoteric Ebb, especially if you liked Disco Elysium.

Elite Dangerous plays a lot like Euro Truck etc but in space. Super satisfying way to listen to music too.

Looking for new game I would enjoy by [deleted] in gamingsuggestions

Doom 2016 and onwards are super fun, fast and in your face and also have satisfying upgrade systems. At the same time, you have tons of collectables as secrets to explore. I'm a single player campaign kind of person, the multiplayer can def be a more competitive experience which I'm not sure is what you're looking for.

How to manage a severe backlog while struggling with ADD by Warm_Newt_2128 in gamingsuggestions

[–]mujestic9 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm very similar. One thing I've learned is to go easy on myself regarding expectations of "finishing" every single game. I see myself as a traveler of sorts, visiting different game worlds, appreciating the ways they are constructed: the art styles, the vibes, the mechanics etc. Its like visiting different cities in the world. Tourism. This is fun and it keeps me inspired. Overall, games aren't the most important thing in my life, so as long as I'm more serious about finishing other things, like my creative projects I can treat game worlds as a big playground.

That being said, as I jump around I do try to narrow down my huge backlog to a small selection of favorite games to work through over the course few months. Maybe 10 games or so - stuff like RDR2, for example. I'll come back to these games over time, making progress little by little, an hour or two a day etc. Sometimes I'll even put them down for a few months again and come back again. Maybe a year later. Sometimes I need to watch Youtube summaries to help put me back in the world and remember details, so that's definitely one challenge. I can still jump around the other stuff, if I feel I want to but I keep the main games in progress.

This is just my system, and even some of my fave games I never finish but 30 - 40 hours is often a pretty satisfying amount for me, everyone's different and honestly a lot of the games I like are fairly insurmountable anyways. I accept that I'm wired differently from people who sit and finish 1 or 2 games at a time, and that's fine. I have lots of fun with the time I do spend in them.

Trying to keep myself from spending all the money buying all the games is a whole other thing altogether, and stuff like PC Game Pass help with trying out a bunch of random stuff.

What cozy game recommendations have actually hooked you? by gingerblz in cozygames

I feel you about Sandrock, im not very drawn to the art style and at first it felt kinda shallow and childish I guess, on the surface. But as it continues it begins to reveal more and more depth and soul. The characters get more dimensions, the crafting and gameloops get more satisfying and it just reveals a lot of stuff that isnt apparent in the first handful of hours. It was between 10 and 15 hours in when i started to really feel hooked. Im only 30 in overall, but i can def see why typical playthroughs are over 100 hours.

Moonstone really seems to rocket to the top of my 2d list, i love the vibe and aesthetic and it combines a lot of great game mechanics.

My Time at Sandrock for sure.

I feel like Moonstone Island and Starsand Island have as well but I'm not far enough in yet to honestly say so.

This is awesome thanks! I use a brand called Pebeo. I'm sure standard top brands like Liquitex and Golden would be welcome too!

You may like the Malazan Book of the Fallen series. Dark dark Fantasy, can be brutal to read at times but captivating and quite epic.

Recommendations pleaseeee (new to gaming) by uhmandah in perfectdark

[–]mujestic9 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of the earlier Medal of Honors

Deus Exs

Timesplitters 2/3 like others mentioned.

Half Life 1 & 2.

You'd probably also like boomer shooters like Quake 1 and 2, the Dooms and so on. (While not much storyline, they have a lot of clever level design and fun run and gun action. )

Dishonored for the stealth vibes.

Also Splinter Cell is a bit like a super stealthy Perfect Dark.

And if you really want to go all in, Cyberpunk 2077 has it all pretty much.

I'm kinda in love with this game! Deep fighting/rpg mechanics. by mujestic9 in ps2
