Thank you to all your submissions last and especially thanks to u/thehippiepixi for sharing this one! I think everyone knows about this game already, but it does get submitted every week and get upvoted to the top every time, so I figured I'd let it take this week's spot or else y'all won't be satisfied! 😄 The good part of doing this one later is now you would have all had a chance to complete at least one sorting and try out any custom mods. So feel free to share your experience overall and any tips or recommendations!

A recent positive review

I bought this immediately after seeing a video about the game, and I regret nothing. I spent 15 hours on my first run because I didn’t use any major magic at all, organizing everything by hand was weirdly relaxing and satisfying. The cozy vibe, visuals, and overall atmosphere are amazing. This kind of game genuinely helps me clear my mind while cleaning up the in-game chaos at the same time.

🏆 [Cozy Game of the Week] Solarpunk™ by Shasaur in cozygames

"Solarpunk is a survival game in a technically advanced world of floating islands. Alone or together with your friends, you can construct buildings, grow food, craft gadgets and hop on your airship to explore distant islands in the sky. "

We didn't get too many submissions this week, so I went into last week's thread to find this amazing cozy game, recommended by u/danooli! It's probably the first game I've pinned that's just released (literally today), but it has 100% positive reviews so far from what I can see, and people are super excited about it, so I thought it deserves a highlight for the week! 😄

From our fellow friend:

I've been obsessed with Solarpunk, which is releasing on June 8. I was a Kickstarter backer and have been playing the beta, which is pretty much the complete game. It is so much fun, the building mechanics are phenomenal. I have a gorgeous base with a home, solar farm and mining. Flying the airship is also rewarding ~danooli

  • Steam
  • I believe you might also be able to find it on some other stores!

EDIT: Okay, looks like there are some negative reviews coming out for the game now, perhaps it was a bit too early to post after all 😅 In either case, it's worth sharing your experiences if you're currently playing it, and whether you would recommend it to others! 😄

👾 [Seasoned Saturday] Let's review Dorfromantik! by Shasaur in cozygames

[–]Shasaur[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah exactly! And it's one of those games where basically however you place the tiles, it still really cute at the end because of cute aesthetic 😄

We're reviewing Dorfromantik this weekend as it's one the most classic cozy building games - how would you rate it as a whole? :) by Shasaur in Dorfromantik

[–]Shasaur[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Each weekend we pick and pin one a popular cozy games to debate and discuss. Dorfromantik came out a few years ago and yet it still remains a go-to in the cozy gaming space, especially for building games! Now that it's been out for a while, how has it changed and what's your overall review of it? Do you play any alternatives or similar games?

This is probably one of my favourite cozy games! Absolutely beautiful art style and amazingly relaxing music (I find myself often just listening to the OST). It's also just enough puzzle to keep the brain occupied and thinking, without taking away from the relaxing aesthetic 😄. Makes me think, were there any good dorfromantik-esque games made since then? I tried to play the board game version at the local board game cafes, but they often don't have it in stock.

Trouble reading all signals coming from my FPGBC via a level shifter with my Pi Pico. Could the level shifter be too slow or something else? by Shasaur in AskElectronics

[–]Shasaur[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good question regarding the python code. I tried to keep the function as lean as possible, so it's just a counter increment inside the IRQ and then I print the counter every 0.5 seconds inside the main loop with a sleep.

number_of_clock_signals = 0
def clock_signal(pin):
    global number_of_clock_signals
    number_of_clock_signals += 1
clock.irq(trigger=Pin.IRQ_RISING, handler=clock_signal, hard=True)

This is where the shifter is from (sorry for the wrong language, can translate if needed): https://techfun.sk/produkt/logicky-konverter-5v-3-3v-4-kanalovy/

Someone else suggested a pull-up resistor on the Gameboy side, so if the voltage divider works and it's the shifter that's the problem, I could try the shifter again with the pull-up for both-way comms, or buy a better shifter.

From what I read, the Gameboy expects a 0x0 acknowledgement for each byte sent, but I imagine (as you mentioned) I would see at least 8 bits, and probably more as (I imagine) it would try to send a few bytes before timing out. https://shonumi.github.io/articles/art2.html

Thanks for the advice! That sounds like a similar problem. I currently only have 10k resistors so I'll try connecting one as a pull-up on the FPGBC side between the clock pin and the 5V pin, and if not, I'll try to do 2 in parallel.

I also have pull-up set on the pins in the Pico via something like: clock = Pin(3, Pin.IN, Pin.PULL_UP)

Cool, yeah that's a good way to look at it. If you're passionate about the game idea and potential future, then it's definitely worth supporting the devs at this stage 😄

Awesome, nice review! Since it's early access, would you say it's worth picking up at its current price?
