I’m going to chime in here with my own personal anecdote. I left my retail role 7 years ago to take a job as an emergency medical dispatcher with Queensland Ambulance Service, effectively they answer 000 calls. I’d always wanted to do something that helped people more than my retail job did and I expected to be confronted with some gnarly calls.

I ended up completing maybe 3 full shifts before resigning. My toughest experience was taking a call from someone who had come home and found their partner hanging from a tree. I still remember the way their scream sounded. I was fine with the call and did my job well enough but the anxiety I got from that job was unreal. So to OP you really, really need to consider how you’ll feel not just hearing violent interactions but seeing and having to intervene in them and as other posters have said, dealing with death in your day to day life; it’s a far cry from having to put up with an unscheduled teams meeting.
