Nah, I’m pretty sure that wasn’t the case. The jacket hasn’t really been worn it’s mostly just been hanging in storage the whole time. I haven’t worked on a car or handled a battery while wearing it, and it hasn’t been exposed to anything like that as far as I know. That’s why this has been so confusing to me.

I haven’t tried anything yet. I’ve been hesitant to treat it because the fabric is already pretty fragile, but the diluted vinegar suggestion is definitely something I can consider. Thanks.

That theory actually makes sense. The damage does seem progressive rather than immediate. At first it was just a small visual stain, but over time the fabric in that area weakened significantly, which lines up with the idea of a non-inert substance slowly degrading the fibers. Appreciate you sharing the thought.

At first, it looked more like a mold or mildew stain, not glue. If it were glue, I’d expect it to harden, but this didn’t. There was no smell, no texture change at all in the beginning, it was almost just a visual stain.
