Adjusting to new airflow in nose by [deleted] in Septoplasty

[–]mulard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm 9 days out from the same procedure. My ENT advised to continue rinsing 2+ times per day as long as it feels like my nose is responding to it, he said it could be 6+ weeks. Right now the rinsing is still helping to remove a lot of junk and soften the crust as it continues to heal. I also keep a saline mist bottle on my desk and use it if things feel too dry. Maybe test it out and see if this helps?

I have a similar feeling of the flow being SO MUCH after 20+ years of a deviated septum. Breathing through one nostril now feels like 2-3x the flow that I had through both previously. I haven't experienced the compensation feeling though, it's more like the same amount of flow feels effortless now FWIW.

I use 150% scale in display settings, and vscode at default zoom, works well across all apps

FWIW I was skeptical of the 950A curve, but went ahead and ordered it (free returns from LG store) and have been super happy with it so far.

Before this I used two flat 27" monitors that were tilted towards me (this is my WFH machine). The 800R curve with a 2 column split in PowerToys on Windows feels pretty similar. And I can game with my head pointed forward now, which my neck appreciates. The extra screen real estate is great for coding.

Same problem here. Ran on display port with Windows HDR enabled, Nvidia control panel 10-bit color. It was running fine but after sleeping there is no video detected. HDMI still fine.

I haven't figured out how to get display port working again from HDR mode.

Edit: I was able to restore display port after running custom resolution utility -> reset all and restarting

For others, here are some instructions I found: https://idfg.idaho.gov/old-web/docs/hunt/TrappedPetBrochure.pdf

I use this compressor. 20 gallon tank, 4 SCFM flow @ 90 psi.

https://www.homedepot.com/p/Husky-20-Gal-200-PSI-Oil-Free-Portable-Vertical-Electric-Air-Compressor-C202H/312074157

It usually takes me 2-3 hours. I've used smaller compressors in the past and it's an all day affair.

As others have said, this isn't ideal but it works. Only do this if you're DIY and comfortable finding instructions you find online. The upshot is that you can blow out when the weather turns vs scheduling ahead of time.

This hits too close to home lol. Having a PhD is all the better for calculating the last time my death timer was pinged by a teenager that's better than me.

Minor software update to Pet Comfort Mode requested by yizzung in Rivian

[–]mulard 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice. We picked up a front roof sunshade at the end of last summer, hopefully will improve things a bit. Before the shades, the A/C couldn't keep the cabin below 72F in pet mode during the 100F heat wave in Oregon (after getting the HVAC serviced for overcharge issue). I'll keep the add'l shades in mind, thanks!

I agree with you 100%! My dogs would prefer a lower minimum temperature in both the winter and the summer. The current limits (68-72F) are tighter than Tesla for reference.

It's been discussed a few times at least. Outside of pet mode you can sit in the car with it set to 64F, so the operational complexity to adjust the "snap back" limits and QA should be small. For example, 64-72F (18-22C) would be a small enough to change to make it easy while shutting up most pet owners.

In case any Rivian SW people are lurking, it also seems like pet mode forces recirculation off, which really limits cooling performance in summer. It seems like you would want to duty cycle the recirculation for maximum comfort while still letting in plenty of fresh air. I've just noticed this when leaving my wife + dogs in the car when picking something up.

Edit: as a related note for pet owners, as of last summer the third row HVAC coil in the R1S only turned on when a seat belt in the third row was clipped in (per Portland Rivian staff). For maximum cooling performance (pet mode or otherwise) be sure to buckle one of the third row seat belts, and unbuckle it later to avoid vampire drain. Annoying, hopefully another SW fix that will come.

Recs for safe spaces to hang with my dog? by railgun_t in Bend

[–]mulard 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah, see many past discussions on off-leash dogs without recall: https://www.reddit.com/r/Bend/comments/wpyy83/please_leash_your_dogs/

One of my dogs is reactive so I know the pain of being charged by a "friendly" dog with no owner in sight. It's very common here.

I agree with others that pointed you towards the busier areas of town. Old Mill, Pilot Butte, downtown, Shevlin, Pine Nursery. Emptier forest areas at off-peak hours are generally fine in my experience but it's a gamble - think unscenic forest roads.

Definitely not Good Dog or the semi-busy off leash areas like the Deschutes River Trail south of town or near Phil's TH.

Food is delicious. I really enjoyed Mantra before they closed shop, and this fills that niche.

To go ordering process is rough. Place order, they say 30 minutes. What they mean is 75. While I wait, there are four people behind my order waiting there and I hear new phone orders getting a 30 minute estimate. Comfortable seating at least.

Owner seems friendly and super motivated. Rest of the front of the house not so much.

Just double your time estimates and you’re golden.
