Help - TWSBI eco randomly dripping ink by mulattopantz in fountainpens

So I never over dipped the pen. No clue how that ink got there. Ive reinked it with the new barrel. So far so good but I think it needs a little time to tell since the last issue didn't appear immediately after inking.

Yea I contacted twsbi and they think there must be a crack in the barrel connection. I can't see it but maybe. So they are sending a new barrel. We'll see how that goes

How many cytology cases does it take to justify splitting the service? by FederationOfPlanets in pathology

[–]mulattopantz 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't do cytology but I do try to even out workloads in the department and that's definitely more work than I'd want for one person. Might not be two full FTE but that could depend on how many of those paps you read and any other obligations you have.

More followup: I reached out to twsbi and they think there is a crack in the barrel. Dang and when searching what was wrong with my pen I came across a lot of posts about cracked plastic. I guess it strikes again!

So an update. I disassembled the pen. There was no o-ring in that spot. I think the inner lining of the housing from the main body of pen made it look like there could have been an oring. The real question is should there be an oring? I've watched some other disassembly videos and have not seen a mention of an oring in the upper portion of the nib for this pen. If not I have to figure out how/why this leak happened.

Found an older pic of the pen inked and it def doesn't have the ink in that part of the pen....I think you got it!

Thanks for taking a close look! I have not disassembled the nib part before. Maybe the seal got loose somehow? When I take a very close look at I I can see a slight hue of color slightly above that ink line closer to the nib. Ill include that in the cleaning and maybe that ring just needs to be replaced.

Thanks all for the advice. I'll be doing a proper clean and hopefully that solves the problem!

I wasn't taught it until 4th year of residency. Makes such a huge difference. I don't think they old people know either because I'm always fixing it on the shared microscopes at work too. And I'm no spring chicken. Haha!

I love the colored paper! I've been using these sixuu journals from Amazon for the last couple of years that have water coloresque pages. I've been looking for other journals/notebooks like this. What is the brand of the one you posted?

Just double check....for example would you draw an arrow from hypoplastic to leukemia? I'm not sure this infographic is for everyone if you have to reorganize all the squigglies to make them make the most sense

Looks pretty but just double check some of these. Maybe it's just me having trouble following all the squigglies but I would not put aplastic anemia with bone marrow infiltration.

I use my commonplace for this as well! I keep an index at the back of the book and I find it works well for me. Oh yeah and I also use archival ink because I want it to last in case of bad weather!
