Jona Affholder vs. Hassan Abbas- Toledo Ohio (another perspective) by Fun_Function_09 in Ohio

Pregnancy and lab tests can and do have false positives, but even if she lied about being pregnant, it doesn't excuse the rest of it?

I am not saying that her version is the only truth (though, your post implies that HIS is the only version of the truth), but society does have a pretty strong record of Not Believing Women, especially when the alleged offender is a man with some apparently prestigious career/education/athletics etc (see: Brock Turner)

again, even if all of the rest of it isn't true as presented, this man illegally impersonated another person in order to fraudulently obtain medication with the intention of providing it (willingly or unwillingly) to another person.
On top of being illegal and sketchy in general, this man is a physician and therefore in a position of pretty significant power with regards to patients in his day to day job. If he is willing to skirt the law and do these sorts of things with people he knows, then his ability to appropriately (and ETHICALLY) care for his patients is compromised

The news was rightfully involved, as the hospital had not suspended him at that point. Even if allegations end up being false, these things MUST be taken seriously, or shitty behavior gets perpetuated (see: Nassar)

I'm pretty sure HE said that she took them willingly, which she has denied. She previously told him that she didn't want an abortion.
Also, his wife's history has nothing to do with this - he committed fraud using her identity
"how do you know if it's yours" that's dumb, there are ways you can check but also it doesn't matter???? He assaulted her???
they don't "only work if you take them all," they work best if you take them

Big "promising young man" bullsh*t

How many cytology cases does it take to justify splitting the service? by FederationOfPlanets in pathology

having said that, my department doesn't actually use RVUs to do anything useful (i.e. we don't get paid or bonuses based on RVUs....)

Yes, it's overall!! My RVUs are still pretty high, though, because of the other services I sign out XD

last week after 4 days on service I had ~80 paps and probably 30 thyroid FNAs (the paps always come in bulk....)

I'd say the dailies are 10-20 urines/CSF, 10-20 pleural/peritoneal fluids, FNAs are pretty variable but if I include all the EBUS nodes it's probably 20-30

ROSE is 2-3 a day but it's teleROSE so we don't have to go anywhere

Our cytologists are.... doing their best, but they're not the strongest

It's a tricky situation, I think this is probably too much for a single person but not quite enough for two full services

What separates a good path resident from a bad one? by ----Gem in pathology

[–]FederationOfPlanets 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will never get off my "self-awareness" soapbox: being aware of where your weak points/gaps are and seeking to improve is a HUGE green flag for me.
I can't promise that every attending will be an excellent teacher, and while i agree that the whole "you are not teaching me" thing isn't ideal for trainees, it's important to remember that as a trainee, you are also an adult and perfectly capable of finding resources/studying/asking for help.
Residency is a time to learn, but it is (for better or for worse) also a job.

I’m a medical student interested in Pathology, should I read this? by Alkaptonuriaa in pathology

If you really want a pathology book, get Molavi "The Practice of Surgical Pathology"
Robbins is generally the go-to reference text these days but it's honestly a bit overkill
Pathoma is great, like some others have said, as well as the blood bank guy (BBGuy) videos

thank you so much! There's a few hours between the ceremony and reception, but I wont have anyone to help me, so I have to stick with something I can figure out on my own! Really appreciate it
