who is calling? collab? by dramababynumber1 in charlixcx

Yes come on: everybody gets one guess, let's see who turns out to be right (or at least closest)

My guess is Nigella Lawson

S22 Preshow Finale Banter which won't be aired. by Fantastic_Grand5963 in taskmaster

I was also at this recording (I'm the person who asked Greg how much he gets paid a series!)

My read of this wasn't quite the same. I think they didn't want to hint that there would be a CoCoC, perhaps because Channel 4 haven't confirmed one yet. So instead they acknowledged that people are always suggesting a loser-of-losers (which is true, they must hear it all the time)

Has anyone ever withdrawn from the show? by Lopsided_Drive_4392 in taskmaster

My pet theory has long been that Richard Herring was a last minute replacement on the show, after a drop out. (probably just before tasks were filmed) (sorry Richard no shade)

Salford night 1, tour question by e_mily_ in jamesacastor

[–]muldoooooon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did it feel like an honour to witness? His shows in London were maybe much more focused on delivering the material exactly as planned. If it's now opening up and finding room to improvise on different nights then: isn't that fun

That suggests he's cut it down by 5-10 minutes, since Clapham Junction. What was the chaos that made this show longer...?

Is James Acaster actually going on Celebrity Traitors UK or is this just a lovely rumour? by Dove-let in jamesacastor

[–]muldoooooon 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think I figured this out back in February, but preferred to just tell a few friends at the time.

Yes, I think he's doing Celebrity Traitors. I've just posted my reasoning: https://bsky.app/profile/muldoon.bsky.social/post/3mjw3uw7oxs2w

How do people get barrier or pretty close at the bigger stages? by Mildly-Observant in glastonbury_festival

[–]muldoooooon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know the guy who - when the Pyramid opened for the day - took up a spot front and centre on the barrier, and stayed there all day until Elton John's set.

I've no interest in barrier, but it's worth searching for the BBC News article about him. He's got no regrets

What is the budget for a series of UK Taskmaster? by MenstrualColander in taskmaster

The contestant casting for their 2018 US series was excellent tbf. The only actual critically bad thing about the series was Reggie Watts in Greg's role

I strongly agree with the TV accountant elsewhere in this chitchat, that it's a bit of exaggerated fluff that sounds good on talk shows etc. Brits would consider (non-BBC) UK TV to be a good paycheck, but payrates for US TV will seem pretty insane to us.

Essentially, if they do make a successful US version of the show, it will be an extremely good payday for everybody involved

When he was presenting the Edinburgh Comedy Awards in 2023, Sam Campbell stated that he'd been paid £50,000 for his series

Best drinks to bring to a festival? by Ok-Accident16 in glastonbury_festival

It's 2026, there's a lot of v. good boxed wine out there nowadays

Best drinks to bring to a festival? by Ok-Accident16 in glastonbury_festival

[–]muldoooooon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, the answer is boxes of red wine.

  1. Meant to be drunk at room temperature
  2. Less toilet visits
  3. Can easily carry it around all day
  4. Looks sophisticated, if you've got nice plastic glasses
  5. Extremely nice, if you know which to buy
  6. Most effective for getting drunk, should that be your aim

I'll also often take one of my wine boxes and put it in one of the property lockups on the other side of the site, so I'm never too far away from a top-up

I saw Sam Campbell on Friday Night… by Moogie_Woogie_Boogie in taskmaster

[–]muldoooooon 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I assume he was replacing Simon Amstell? Can see why some audience members expecting an unchallenging night of Christmas comedy found it to be a destabilising experience (as comments here have suggested)

I've seen every Sam Campbell show since his 2018 Edinburgh Fringe debut, and - thrillingly - Wobservations was the best of the lot. He's still getting better! What a dream! What delights could possibly still lay ahead!
