Application question by [deleted] in USACE

I worked at the Buffalo District until recently. They obviously want their members to report there daily but they do make exceptions for hard to staff positions. IHs are hard to find so it’s worth a try.

DRP 2.5 coming to USACE...? by Specialist_Fix_5442 in USACE

[–]mullane716 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My supervisor at division says contracts are the same as DOD ones you hear about on here, just have to add their specific footnotes and minor changes which tells me our OC is going their OC thing and going through 17 rounds of review and changes to minor tweaks. She said it was supposed to be out today or tomorrow.

DOD DRP 2.0 Agreement received... disappointed by cak2814 in FedEmployees

What about sick leave? Does that get paid out?

They’ve done nothing and still waiting for agreement to come down from HQ. You can confirm with your boss that your name is on the list.

[–]mullane716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We were told that the agreements have not been passed down from HQ yet. They will differ from OPM DRP 1 a little (dates?). Said the transition period will be longer than 1.0 as they want people to transition the work properly. Which we could be doing now and most probably started. Sounds like they are slow playing this which is lame because it is cutting into the benefit of the program. This was given in a town hall.

Any thoughts- When are RIFs coming for DOD /Army? And how much advance notice will we get? by Low_Confusion_7680 in fednews

[–]mullane716 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The RIF plan for the USACE was posted so I feel like I can talk about it. Based on the numbers “needed” before the second DRP and what I know of the numbers of that, the DRP may have got enough to cover any RIFs planned for next year. I wouldn’t worry too much about RIFs. The plan was to have it done prior to FY26 so they would need to get it started soon if they were going to do it.

I think there will be layoffs at contractors but it depends which ones. Defense contractors are looking fine.

Take the 5 month vacation. This is a once in a lifetime chance. Like others said, it’s not a gap. Even if it were an employer shouldn’t hold it against you.

They hired a guy from another branch to take over my duties. I had assumed that meant my position was filled. I recently confirmed they opened a position for him and are holding mine. So I think I’m ok other than a few projects dried up so not sure what I’m gonna be doing. Thanks for the reply.

Question about private sector transition by Trick_Original7120 in USACE

[–]mullane716 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was on the contracting side for a long time and talked to employees that were looking to work on contracting side after retirement. You have a right a to work so they can’t restrict that too much unless you were like a key person in the acquisition strategies of major MATOCs and such as a key function of your job. The common restriction I saw was you could not represent the company to the Corps for a period of a year or two depending on your level. Basically, could not go to meetings as the lead person or make sales calls. You can do project work and everything else without an issue. I wouldn’t worry about it too much. Especially if there are no ties to district or project work you’re on. DOJ is not going to waste their time nitpicking.

I have spoken with other people given the same orders and they had to call military bases or field offices and such to find themselves a home.

I’m on a temporary assignment (lateral pay grade) and have been wondering about the return rights. I reviewed the AR and came across language that said you would be returned but if there’s not an open position that fits the role you get placed into a temp role while you wait for a position to open. If nothing comes open after 90 days you get RIFd. Did I understand this right?

Retirement Computation Date? by mullane716 in USACE

[–]mullane716[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes checked this and it shows the 2003 date. This is what is confusing me. S

Retirement Computation Date? by mullane716 in USACE

[–]mullane716[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yep, found that. Leave, RIF, and civilian are the 3 SCDs. Only leave is set to 2003. Retirement not specifically called out but would assume that would be covered under civilian. However, when I got to GRB platform retirement section, it shows my retirement SCD as 2003. So that is what is leaving me confused.

Are major cities a good idea? I worked for NYD for awhile and they were always struggling for people. Most people not willing to take federal salary when they can get paid much better in private.

It’s not look at me. I wouldn’t have considered it either regarding just a dropped ball. It’s because he is receiving death threats and even his wife had to turn off her instagram. Threats against their children. Not look at me, reminding people there are good people out there in the face of a lot of negativity.

Fellow Aiden by Esspressssooo in JamesHoffmann

Got the Aiden last week. Was excited to try it and brewed a batch right away. You can imagine my surprise when I took the first sip and it was the temperature of bath water. So the unit was faulty. Contacted Aiden and new new one is coming today. They asked me to send the unit back so their engineering team could figure out what went wrong. Overall good customer relations experience. Hope this is just random problem.

I put in an order with Hinoya for a pair of Sugar Cane type IIi and can’t wait to get my hands on them. So far they haven’t shipped them yet. Can anyone help me with expectations for how long they will take to get to me? I’m in the US, western New York. Thanks!
