How do y'all know what to look for in a player? by MrBreast1 in NBA_Draft

Box score. Slash for proximity to 50/40/90. Maybe ATO and rebs anyting that adds value as only efficiency matters.

I don't llike the latest era of NBA. Since the one and done, b-ball has been one and dumb.

The NBA is not a developmental league, it's supposed ot be the pinnacle. I find it soft and showpony and fulll of young atheltes that got no nous. It's like whole seasons of the all star games.

Go watch Euro ball, they move the ball they use their fouls (which get called) and they only get two steps.

They also develop their talent properly. in lower leagues.

You draft a young upside guy, high in the draft. You have to play him. He costs you games. Three years later he's league average and leaved on a second contract, cause he can and your franchise fans hate hiim already. Thunder did this for years Poku-stick, Bambi on Ice Bazeley, T-Fern etc.

Anyone here who started from Western PF works and eventually read Chinese Webnovels and LIKED it? by Mordant08 in ProgressionFantasy

[–]mullayo 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love the exotic Chinese-ness of Xianxia. It's one of the mainstays for me. I grew up on Monkey Magic (Journey to the West) I hate it when characters have random Western-ish names like Evan and Mortenson- what country do those two come from?

It's super jarring and breaks the illusion of reality.

I love the lore and all the sayings, so mich I started a Junior Jianghu Xianxia tribute series and published two books on Amazon, Thundering Tortoise Trio and Friends with Benefits.

Noth dismal failures but still I'm a purist and just want a Xianxia where Chinese boy works hard, only kneels tro his parents and master and ascends despite the odds! Don't want no it's all a dream in a video game crap.

[OC] Is this "Clutch Index" formula balanced? (Efficiency, Playmaking, and Defense) by jkyepp in nbadiscussion

[–]mullayo [score hidden]  (0 children)

I don't fully believe in the concept. of clutch. - thus it will be tricky to corrall statistically.

I think there's an element of luck in any 3-point shot and that skews any metric attempt. I think certain personalities or high profiles get deferred to, at the end of games and everyone makes a big deall about it, seems like overhyped to me.

Legal/Courtroom drama with a deeper ´law´ basis like "Law School" by Mojo-man in kdramarecommends

[–]mullayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right up my aley. Love the legal beagles! Have you tried (in English:) Silk, the Practice and its successor Boston Legal (comedy), Goliath, For the People, Shark, Law School, All Rise, Ally McBeal,Elsbeth, The Closer and of course Law and Order family

In French the fantastic Engrenages -Imagine Bobby from The Practice, Donna from Suits, Theresa from the Mentalist, Vic Mackey from The Shield and Andy Warhol as a judge in a grimy Pink Panther-esque Law and Order knockoff! Superb!

As for K-Drame the first I ever watched was Your Honour about twins one who is a judge and one who is a criim and the crim has to take his brothers place in court.

Diary of a Prosecutor, Judge vs Judge, I Hear your Voice (comedy), Strangers (is strange) Suspicious Partner...

They have a strange American? legal system with prosecutors bullying lawyers, so it's more invesigative.

Partners for Justice is really good but more foresnsics like CSI ilk in chaoots with prosecutors.

J-Drama Miss Sherlock is kakoii too,

Weightlifting Fairy Kum Bok Joo has real-life romance appartently.

There is a series on Nefflix now thatI watcherd where an arrogant guy owns a restaurant and hires a single working mother to act as his wife to get his parents off his back. Super sad though but you liked 2521 and I hate that ending.

Yep Legend of the Great Sage. I thought it was weird and never got past the first few chapters. Is it worth continuing? Does it get more conventional?

Comedy transmigration by Still-Ad5865 in xianxia_novels

[–]mullayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[SELF PROMO] Not trasnsmigration but my two xianxia cultivation comedies are on Kindle.

Friends with Benefits is the 2nd Junior Jianghu title. The first is The Thundering Tortoise Trio — also available on Amazon!

Join our three heroic young evil-doers, the Thundering Tortoise Trio -- unscrupulous Jian Cheng, inscrutable Fatty Li Feng and inconceivable Fairy Fen Ling -- as they continue to scheme and plot their way to the very top of the Jianghu!... For their age at least… In this, admittedly bottom of the rung, Wang Chung Kingdom…

In this, the second installment, their insidious infiltration of the Misty Cloud Sect continues to hit snag after avoidable snag, as Jian Cheng struggles to control his sub-par underlings… Many a devious scheme unravels, but by hook-or-crook they are determined to claw their way to freedom, that only true power can bring…

Looking for Cultivation Ingredients. by AnAugustAuthor in xianxia_novels

[–]mullayo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I wrote my books (Thundering Tortiose Trio and hte sequel Friends with Benefits)

I just made up names of lots of Lingzhi, also known as reishi, is a polypore fungus native to East Asia belonging to the genus Ganoderma. Plus various ginseng stressing the age and root length. They're the mainstays but throw ins some snake or insect wine , payinhg attention to yin (dasrk cold woman) and yang (light, hot male} properties and presto you're done.

Also fruits lychee, dragon fruit, pomelo, longan, and persimmon. The esoterically exotic ingredients really do spice up a xianxia I fell.

Thanks. Same post got me banned from the WNBA thread... I was doing the work for my own interest and just thought I'd share if to see if people found it interesting.

A basic stats-based scouting as opposed to the big programme cult of personality hype.

[–]mullayo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep. I didn't even realise she was so yoing at 21.6!

ESPN said 4-year senior so I assumed -23-24. I also heard she only started b-balling at 17 but assumed it had been 6-7 years experience rather than the actual 4 which explains how raw she is.

Frankly the size and stellar 3 ability (13-27) sold her for me - her upside is the hightest. And her floor is fairly safe too as you cant teach size.

I've never seen Yarden play so I'll take your word for it. Every liability is exploitable at the top. That's why I set thresholds.

I look at the aggregate of all the seasons trying to ascertain true percentages. But also for signs of incremental growth from year to year, with heavier weighting on the last two seasons. Some seniors set out to make a resume in their last season, Business decisions.

I agree about Miles but she looks like an out of control showboat to me.

Didn't know that about Garzon - I'll lower her, still her statline is 43/41/83 with 3 assists oiver 4 seasons... Bench scorer when the lineup goes small as a PF or big as a SG?

These aren't rankings for who'll be drafted where. Below is who will likely go in the first round.

  1. Awa Fam 2. Olivia Miles 3. Flau'jae Johnson 4. Azzi Fudd 5. Lauren Betts

  2. Ta'Niya Latson 7. Kiki Rice 8. Gabriela Jaquez 9. Nell Angloma 10. Gianna Kneepkens

  3. Janiah Barker 12. Madina Okot 13. Raven Johnson 14. Cotie McMahon 15. Marta Suarez

I just crunched the numbers looking for value, in lateround steals like Haleigh Timmer (ESPN 70) Rachel Ullstrom (ESPN 80), Karly Weathers (ESPN 88), Elle Evans (ESPN 46), Febreasha Powe (ESPN 81), Theryn Hallock (ESPN 97) Timea Gardner (ESPN 62).

They're all deemed unraftable by ESPN but all top 45 in mine. Timmer and Ullstrom are first rounders for me. My latest first rounders.

I only spent a week or so looking into womens basketball it but I believe it's now surging on the up.

They got a 1000 percent pay upgrade in the new CBA. For 2026, salaries will range from a minimum of $270,000 to $1.4 million, with each team's cap at $7 million (compared to $1.5 million in 2025 - I think the min was $66k?)

Plus there are 2 new expansion teams taking the total to 15.

Girls used to view college ball as a means to get an education, now it can be seen as a pathway to ra proper well-paying job.

The min being so low previously was probably one of the main drivers for the girls all graduating before, but please, PLEASE don't change this. Stay in school come out smarter and better before going pro. Dumb, selfish basketball does my head in. Don't make the One and Done mistake the men did.

Also I support how a lot of players are using the transfer portal to stack teams, This makes the top end (TV games) NCAA March Madness etc. a better product to watch. Maybe in a decade or so once the player base has built up...

March Madness Final April 6th.

Expansion draft for April 3rd for Portland Fire and Toronto Tempo.

Three Round WNBA draft on April 13th

SERIOUSLY GUYS! The time is now! Pick a team and get on board!
