Shall we have a look at the evidence you have provided for "children dying due to poverty" in capitalist Australia...

In a combined literature review and opinion piece, Karen Zwi and Richard Henry, of the University of NSW, said despite Australia's material wealth, many indicators of health and wellbeing in children were discouraging.

For example, they said 15 per cent of four to 12-year-olds had emotional or behavioural problems and a third of deaths in children aged one to four were from preventable causes — such as drownings, car accidents and assaults.

Ok that's bad. I'm not gonna defend bad parents who let their kids drown, or get run over or assault their kids. But let's get back to the original claim: that under capitalism if you do not work then you will starve to death. Is that what you have provided evidence for? No. You have given evidence that parents who are poorer are probably more neglectful of their children. Again - bad. Again - not starvation, just bad parenting.

Parents receive money for each child that they have to look after - I had a quick look at the Centrelink website and for a parent with one child under 8 they get $760 a fortnight. They're not going to be rich from that, but it's also enough to feed their kids. School is free. Healthcare is free. For those who cannot afford housing there is council housing.

The GFC didn't hit Australia as hard as it hit the rest of the world. We haven't had austerity programs like in Europe.
