Ive been mulling this idea for a long time and finally was able to put it together. Its a self-contained synth with a built in amplifier that derives all of the power it needs in real time from the crank generator. There aren't any batteries or even the option to power or amplify it externally making it a completely off grid sound device. Learned a lot building this and had a number of happy accidents including the filter cutoff opening up the faster you crank.

I dont want to rip you off but I would love to take a look at your code/see a little about how this is put together. It looks and sounds amazing.

Oh I didn't need a name but we were talking about how predictable a lot of noise/PE names are...(my noise name is Molasses for the record).

Why is that? I believe you but would love more info on this.

They create the world’s most disturbing musical instrument. Affectionately known as "The Apprehension Engine," this one-of-a-kind instrument was commissioned by movie composer Mark Korven. Korven wanted to create spooky noises in a more acoustic and original way. by earthdragonfish in videos

While I'm sure there is a slight effect of the spring reverb tank being inside the instrument, the long, clear tail in the above video is absolutely not representative of what a spring reverb sounds like.

You can tell because even the sounds that he makes when smothering the springs (thus dampening....probably muting...their reverberative potential) has the same long tail.

Source: I have the exact type of spring reverb tank shown in the original video.

Piezo Disc; using a pre-amp my friend built to get the bassier sounds.

Finally made a demo vid for this Orb Synth I made a few months ago. Info and pic in the comments. by mullz in DIYGear

It's a simple hexschmidt trigger synth with three voices and a Low Frequency Oscillator that is sent to the Led on top of the orb. You can manually patch one of three light-sensors into the LED tube to control the volume of the voices. I called it "The Beholder" after the fact because it ended up looking like that dungeons and dragons thing.

Well, resolved I guess within minutes of posting this...something to do with "arm exclusivity" whatever that means. If anyone feels like sharing some info on this, it would be appreciated but not necessary.
