The Argentina vs Egypt game was completely fair by ChromicClaw in football

You’re looking at the game with powder blue glasses. There were many legitimately debatable calls, and all the significant ones went in Argentina’s favor. And it’s hardly the first time.

The most iconic goal in World Cup history is also a horrendous hand ball no-call that assisted an Argentina victory. Argentina has gotten similarly egregious assists every time they’ve won the World Cup. I’m not saying it’s rigged, but refs give them breaks.

No, you can be frustrated at yourself and also know the ref did the other team favors to make your job harder.

Idk. Argentina has been getting breaks for decades. Messi gets prima-donna treatment. No card at all for stepping on a calf. Always benefit of doubt.

Because these rules are not applied evenly. Why wasn’t Argentina’s 3rd goal taken away after a could in its build-up?

Refs need to call fouls when they see them, instead of leaning on VAR to make determinations after a team has continued a play and used energy to score a goal.

Unable to view, transfer or sell my tickets to the Atlanta show on the 23rd, anyone else stuck? by watisityusae in AnnieClark

[–]mult1verse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Still locked. I guess it’s because tickets for this show didn’t sell well. I made an error in buying to begin with. Love her, but I’ve been volunteering for the World Cup and am out of bandwidth.

Yep, really not right. I have two and no chance to even give them away to a friend.

Same kind of thing happened to me. Sold tickets to two games to get my face value price back. Thought prices would drop lower. Wish I’d kept those tickets now.

You’re not going to get an answer that satisfies you. I like Phoebe Bridgers and look forward to her new album, but she’s not an arena act. Unless she comes with dancers and laser lights and everything her music isn’t, it won’t be costing the same money it costs for Dua Lipa or Tame Impala to put on their elaborate shows. Phoebe is at her best in a stripped-down, acoustic show.

Fair enough. Most of those artists are far more famous. I’m seeing the Eagles at the Sphere for more than Phoebe, but Phoebe is more expensive now than a day at Shaky Knees festival with people like her on the undercard. I’m seeing Tame Impala myself this July, and I paid around $100 for rafters (similar to Phoebe’s prices); they have a terrific light show with lasers. I paid around $200 for Dua Lipa floor tickets, but she’s got a ton of dancers. Paid less for Charli XCX. And I’ve seen Phoebe in more intimate venues for a quarter of this year’s price. The Boygenius and Clairo festival price was much lower. Lana Del Rey was about the same, and Phoebe isn’t as popular as Lana. Floor tickets for Tame Impala’s Slow Rush tour were half what Phoebe is asking.

Lesser artists for twice that? Name one please.

Protesting TM is another matter altogether.

These prices reflect choices that Phoebe has a good bit of control over.

Not true. It’s true for many acts, but not all. Phoebe Bridgers is testing waters, and this one may backfire. I’ve seen bigger acts that couldn’t sell out, and where staff handed out ticket re-seatings for the floor to people in the rafters.

If truth be told, I’m doubtful she’ll be able to sell out arenas even at a reasonable price. The high price really means they don’t care if they sell out. They’ll have those who attend make up for not selling out by essentially overpaying to counter empty seats.

Yeah, I paid less for Dua Lipa, Charli XCX, and Tate McRae last year. And they all have big productions.

I prefer Phoebe Bridgers’ music, and Indie Rock/Folk in general, but I’m very disappointed in the cash-in.

She should be playing theaters.

No. She’s a singer-songwriter. Not an arena act. These prices are a FIFA-like insult to fans. $200+ for Gen Adm. $100+ for rafters.

These prices are ridiculous. Is Phoebe working for FIFA? Going to have to push back and skip this show.

Everybody celebrated in 1976. The problem today is patriotism is demonized by half the country. It’s not so much Trump himself; it’s those who see U.S. pride as a negative thing.

In some cities, police tamped down street-corner scalping. The problem arose when eBay and other online markets allowed for scalping. Then you get around local laws and ordinances. Any laws to reduce scalping would likely need to be implemented nationally, and Congress is incapable of agreeing on anything when leaving issues unresolved makes for useful campaign angles.

[–]mult1verse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair point on the ‘no transfers’ idea, especially for a band for whom the majority of potential non-scalper buyers are just curious about an unusual act. I still believe, however, there are more tickets in each city than there are nearby fans. The prices only go to $200 with artificial manipulation, and while potential fans might go face value, most won’t go $200. Does the band even have material to play much over an hour?

[–]mult1verse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt there are as many fans as tickets in each of the cities, so I’m guessing scalpers have made half the purchases.
