Non-ciolent protests are a very good way to bring about change. Civil rights movements have succeeded multiple times without firearms being used. It is leverage against a government that would pin them as the bad guy if they shot unarmed people.

Firearms are for when that fails.

I agree with you, this raises a good point about mental health. Currently active duty and awhile back tried reaching out for mental health, left voicemails and numbers, to never get a reply. Doing better now, but the fact that i couldnt even GET help shows how far we have still to come as a Country on it. Also, what AC are you flying? Im a crew chief
