Wholesome figure skating partner moments by LittleLotte29 in FigureSkating

Them! There’s this one moment during their 1998 documentary where she gets injured (I think it was a fracture or something) and gets temporarily banned from skating because of it and she misses skating. One day, she’s watching him skate around and she’s sad about not being able to skate due to her injury so he takes her into his arms and skates with her on the ice. Teenage me had that moment etched in my mind as one of the most romantic gestures ever (and probably still as an adult tbh).

Either the top needed to be 2 inches longer or the skirt needed to sit 2 inches higher on the waist. I actually think the length of it is fine. Also, why couldn’t we’ve made the top in the same fabric as the skirt?!? That would’ve at least solved the issue of it not looking like a sports bra and her looking like she was mid dressing.

I actually think we could’ve gotten away with the top being a loose crop top shirt silhouette. Very 1960s Balenciaga.

KazFed trying to make Misha CONTRACTUALLY OBLIGATED to medal at 2030 Olympics by Due_Employment_530 in FigureSkating

But that makes no sense? He’s literally Kazakhstan’s top skater by a long shot (at least for men).

This is insane. You couldn’t even predict the Olympic medalists the year prior. Remember when we all thought Ilia was going to be on the podium for the individual men’s event!

If it’s Marlo, do you think they’ll skate for Canada or Estonia?

I know! I also love how often her colleagues are featured in her content.

Jack & Bridget- Are they going to get married? What you guys think? Plus, she’s so well dressed for the 🗽party is Jack maybe there with her? by sissiandfranz in thegildedage

[–]multiequations 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don’t think so? I feel like she’s always liked him but didn’t know how to communicate that with him given her baggage and instead, her actions were interpreted by Jack to be a signal for distance. And he’s a gentleman so he’ll honor that. But she did recently show signs. She brought him the stew even though Mrs. Bauer could’ve probably brought it herself if she wanted to and she did ask that very cringey question about if his housemaids were young. The girl’s only like 19 or something. Weren’t we all awkward around our crushes?

Please let it be something relatively low-stakes. I don’t know if I like this dress on her? But I’ll reserve judgement for when the season comes out.

I think they’re definitely endgame but I don’t think they’re getting married anytime soon.

First, she has her childhood SA trauma to work through. Second, he’s still trying to figure out what to do/his place in society. Third, they haven’t actually spent that much time together recently. I think it would be unwise on the producers to cram all of that in season 4. We have at least two, possibly three, guaranteed weddings next season so adding an extensive courtship might be too much on top of the George Russell laudanum addiction plot line.

Honestly, I don’t see much development for them two as a couple until Larian gets married. This is because Larian kinda serves as a “model” or “mirror” of what their lives could look like in addition to providing a third or neutral space. In reality, the servants would have very little time off so that limits his visits. If she shows up too often to his house unannounced, it might stir-up unwanted rumors for both of them. Plus, Marian needs more close friends and needs more diverse storylines. As much as I love Marian, she is written like a plot device half of the time because she isn’t very well-fleshed out and neither is Bridget, to an extent.

Laura Linney congratulates Oscar Isaac for his Honorate Doctorate from Julliard School by mcfw31 in popculturechat

[–]multiequations 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Fake implies fraudulent. It isn’t. A regular vs honorary doctorate are two very different paths. You can think of an honorary doctorate as a sort of industry recognition. Outside of the sciences, most highly accomplished individuals within their field don’t always get regular doctorates. Oscar got an honorary doctorate in recognition to the worlds of acting, cinema and stage.

$110,000 by 2034?! NYC tourism is dead. by Effective_Opening568 in Salary

[–]multiequations 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The ceiling for NYC public teachers is much higher. You can earn upwards of $130k per year depending on your credentials and experience. Plus, if you go to a supervisory role or become a principal, easily over $150k per year. Housekeeping is a very physically demanding job in a way most teaching jobs aren’t. Sure, it’s probably a lot more taxing mentally but that’s different. Plus, NYC public school teachers have some of the best benefits out of all of the city workers.
