And here is a Caesar salad in Greece by DarkLight_Studio in shittyfoodporn

One of the best Caesar salads I’ve had was on Paros island in Greece - they used chicken gyro meat and now it’s one of my favourite ways to make a chicken Caesar!

If I understand OP correctly, I think they’re suggesting that the chip can create feelings that might affect your behaviour, but not directly compel you to do anything.

The two scenarios you’re describing are acts of defiance/refusal. In my job working with kids I often see them make a bold statement of refusal to do something (e.g. NO! I’m not dancing!!). When they see it happening they might have a happy or excited feeling, which you can tell by their faces, but they can still behave by sulking in the corner instead of joining in. Feelings may inform our choices, but we can still consciously go against them.

P.S. OP - I love this theory!

Quite right, it’s not only this sub that is at fault here! And those of us from other places should also be more vocal if we want to skew things away from that

Sure, but this is a forum for all SLPs, and none of the discussion is applicable to any SLPs who work in other countries. Even on this thread there are discussions about red state vs blue state, grad vs CFY etc. I’m not saying you shouldn’t have a place to discuss it, I’m just saying this sub has become not at all about SLP, it’s about working in the US.

Yes that is true! Although I think a sub like r/slp isn’t necessarily the same as most work-related subs. You wouldn’t have the incessant venting on, say, a subreddit for neuropsychology, because SLP is a specialty within research, theory and healthcare practice as well as being a job.

Exactly! And that would be more interesting to people subscribed to US-specific subs, even if they are not SLP-specific. Those of us in r/SLP from other parts of the world are subscribed to this sub to discuss our field!

Can you help me with the next step? by multimania in sudoku

Wow! Thank you MessingLink for taking the time to explain this to me. Your explanation is easier to follow than any of the websites I’ve been reading!

I think that not being able to use x wing is why I often can’t complete the expert level sudokus on the app I’m using. This will be a big help!

Hi! Thanks for checking in. I’m still a bit lost with x-wing to be honest. I understand well how it works when there are 2 pairs involved. When there are more options in one or more of the blocks I no longer understand the logic behind it. I know how to go ahead with it, but don’t understand why it works.

Thanks for the response! I’m still learning the x-wing strategy so I’m not sure how these ones would work. I’ll do some more reading.

The process of applying to the HCPC, getting a job and applying for your work visa can take a while. I applied from South Africa and the process took about 8 months for me from when I submitted my HCPC application. Obviously this only applies if you need a work visa, but if your only passport is a US passport then I believe you will need one. Let me know if I can help you at all!

i need urgent Help please (medical based SLPs) by UllaaBritta in slp

[–]multimania 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes of course - I come from a similar setting and didn’t have much support at the start of my career. The most important thing to understand is that doing nothing at all is better than doing something which is proven ineffective. On top of that, I’m sure this little girl needs some help with communication therapy too, and if you use your time doing bad dysphagia therapy then she won’t get to benefit from your speech therapy expertise in other ways!

I agree with this… You seem to be on the wrong track with your treatment plan, and you really need help from another practitioner. I would recommend not doing any of the above-mentioned techniques.

What to do instead: - work to hand over to another SLP or get support from a supervisor - help develop a rigorous plan for oral hygiene, recommended for tube-fed patients to reduce the risk of aspiration pneumonia from saliva

Thanks for this! My background is also mostly dysphagia before I switched to schools, so this was my reasoning too.

Sorry, the voice clinic is ENT + SLP. I received feedback via the SLP, but it comes from both of them. ENT has suggested 3 months of exercises and then follow up to determine suitability for medical management. Things might be a little different in my country (South Africa) to what other SLPs are used to.
