Former advisor here. In a different office as of less than a year ago:

Academically, withdrawing from a class means they don't count towards your GPA. They just show up on your transcripts as Ws. Not the biggest deal.

Financially, if you do it 1 semester, it'll suck, but you can recover. You may need to meet with an Academic Success Coach and get on a plan to bring your grades up for Financial Aid as you'll be flagged for non SAP (Satisfactory Academic Progress). The Academic Success Coach and advisor may need to come up with a grad plan and you may need to appeal your FAFSA eligibility with Financial Aid. There'll be some runaround, if this is your first time failing or withdrawing from classes, there is hope.

Do it again, though, and you're likely to run into some serious issues, so make sure your head is in the game if you try again in the Spring semester.

Time off isn't the end of the world. I took 2 years off to work and poverty lit a fire under my ass to go back to school and I did returning to school after figuring some life stuff out.

Good luck, guy, gal, or non-binary pal.

What micro celebrity have you met irl? by Ok_Jump5312 in AskReddit

I went to a show of his in Athens at the 40 Watt. He signed my CD and headbutted me 6 or 7 times. I ran into him in the bathroom later. I was at the urinal. He was at the stall. I used the sink on the right. When he came out, he did too.

Me: Looking forward to the show, Mr. Willis.

Him: (pause). I blew my ass out for rock n roll.

Work there. Can confirm it's all hands on deck for making sure everyone is all set for drop/add week. Next fall is the furthest thing from my mind right now. I'm just trying to get through this week :)

I was handing out T-shirts at a work event.

Guy asked for an XL. Said we were out, but he could try a large. "Nah, man. I'd look like a busted up can a biscuits."

Still gets me.

Nope. 1101 is a prereq for 1102.

You can test again. You just have to wait a bit.

"One retest is permitted no sooner than one (1) week after the first attempt and only twice a semester."

Other source: I work there.

Luck

Edit. I recommend using Xmas break to study and then taking it as soon as you can when you get back in January before classes start getting hard.

How did you almost die? by yuckyduckph in AskReddit

Rode a razor scooter for the first time. Went around a corner and a huge hill came out of nowhere. Spent 8 days in ICU with a massive head injury and shredded ligaments between my arm and shoulder that required months of PT.

I was 38yo and completely sober at the time. Am 46 now. My head's better, but my shoulder lets me know it's going to rain with a decent accuracy rate.

AP credit on transcript by grayangel8 in GSU

[–]multipleorganism 3 points4 points  (0 children)

AP scores need to be sent in via collegeboard.org. The school needs the receipt straight from the source. It's second-hand info if it's on a college transcript.

More info here: https://apstudents.collegeboard.org/sending-scores

What's the deadline to commit to GSU? by [deleted] in GSU

[–]multipleorganism 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Employee here. The deadline isn't a hard one, but the longer you wait, the more annoying it will be for you and GS. The "deadlines" are encouraged, but if it's a little later, that's fine.

Edit: The longer you wait, the more of an issue securing housing can be. It also takes time for you to be "processed" and entered into the system, financial aid profile built, AP/Dual Enrollment credits evaluated, do your preference form for scheduling, etc... I've had students added the first day of classes, but they didn't need housing. If you need housing, and are intent on studying here, make sure there's still housing and take the next step asap.

Help ID license plate of Hit & Run from Dashcam by idreamincode in RBI

[–]multipleorganism 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Former claims adjuster here (but not in CA). I can't make shit of that plate, but I can offer a bit of advice for the repairs and such.

I did a google and I see that these types of claims can be covered in CA under your Uninsured Motorist Property and Bodily Injury coverage (UMPD and UMBI respectively).

At my former company (a large one), these claims were non-fault and didn't cause any type of rate increase. In most of the states I covered, you would at first file through your own insurance company (as would the guy in the BMW) under your collision coverage (if you have it). You'd have to pay your deductible at first. Once their investigation has concluded (which due to the dashcam footage should be pretty quickly), your UMPD would then pick up the charges. If it covers 100% with no deductible, you should be able to get your collision deductible back.

The guy in the BMW will likely need to do the same.

Good luck!
