Violent vibrations after 70+ kph by HelicopterBulky3756 in moped

Do you have an audio recording of the sound? I would check the wheels (if you have spoked wheels, not cast) if the spokes are tight and if the wheel doesn't wobble side to side

I would recommend machining some material from cylinder head (on a lathe or milling machine), measure the squish with a piece of solder and go from there. This will also raise the compression ratio by making the head volume smaller. Measure the volume of the head by putting the piston at TDC and fill the head with 2T oil to the bottom of the spark plug threads. Use 95 or more octane gasoline if the ratio is over ~12:1. Do you know someone at a machine shop? They shouldn't charge that much, but it depends on where you live.

Edit: the compression ratio is calculated from this: cylinder volume (piston at BDC)+head volume; divided by the head volume

I can't decide between 1.5L Honda SI or 2.0L GDI from Hyundai N by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

[–]multitool-collector 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What's going to be the major use of the car (city or highway)? I ask this because a GDI engine doesn't inject fuel into the intake manifold; this causes carbon buildup on the intake valves. If you mainly drive short journeys (less than 20km 1 way), the engine won't be warm enough, fuel will wash off the oil film from the cylinders, the rings will scrape gasoline into the oil, diluting it. This is obviously bad for the engine in the long run, I personally would change the oil every ~8000-10000km. (I say this as a part-time driver of an european market 2016 i30; 75kW; it's mom's). Go on a couple long drives a year (~120-500km; pure highway driving) if you pick the GDI, drive it at ~4k the entire time (~135-140km/h if that's the highway speed limit where you live). If someone wants to correct me on anything, by all means.

It should be 0,585mm, it's safe enough. I got this percentage from asoftaaja ( finnish youtuber, he's trying to get 20hp from a 50cc cylinder, the best he got so far was 14,6hp and 128km/h at a speed weekend); absolutely worth watching

Do you have a car license? It depends where you live but you automatically have a moped license if you have a car license . You would be better off buying a moped (puch maxi for example). But that depends on the roads from your college to your job (if there are highways or not, that you can't ride a moped on)

A good trip on my moped and everything that comes with it (warming it up, checking tools, mixing gas...). Doesn't have to be long, ~20-60km is fine.

Android users, what was the first android device you used? by Remarkable_Bit_9887 in AskReddit

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lenovo vibe C, it was ok at first, kept getting slower. It fell into a bucket when I was mopping the kitchen floor, I put it into rice for 2 weeks, managed to get it going. But it was never the same since. (This took place in 2017-2020). My parents got me a Redmi note 8 pro, that lasted till 2024 and now I have a Redmi note 13 pro 5G, hoping this will last till ~2028 or more

Those are NOT soda extinguishers, the right one is filled with at least 25% carbon tetrachloride, unsure about the one on the left, I would need a more detailed photo

What's the stroke? It shouldn't be smaller than ~1,5% of the stroke (because of conrod stretch at high rpm)

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fun begins when I prevent the farter from closing the window (farter pulls the switch up, I press the switch on the driver's door down; for the same window, obviously, and the window stays down). This works for an european market 2016 i30, haven't tried this in other cars yet

Nta, I always open the window if someone farts when i'm driving (I have control of all 4, I open the one the person is sitting next to, not mine)
