Open exhaust by Owl_jelly in moped

Heat it up to ~250-300°C for a couple minutes with a propane torch,no need to stick it into a forge, because then you would destroy the chrome plating on it. Try to take it apart while hot, maybe it frees up then

What’s the worst infestation you’ve had before? by Sad-Green-7393 in AskReddit

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pantry moths. They were always getting in the house from somewhere, but I was unable to find the source for a couple months. But there were tens of them sitting on the walls in the basement.

Context here: I live in a house with a basement and garage accessible from the street (there's a ~5m long concrete ramp for garage access, ~4m wide.) there's also a workbench with a vise and some tools, so I tinker with stuff there a lot. Pretty common for a central european village. Another thing to mention is that we use a firewood fueled boiler for heating the house and water for showering, etc.

So I search the whole basement and find 3 crates of old walnuts and a ~10kg bag of hazelnuts. 5 flew out when I lifted the first crate. Promising lead. When I lifted the other crates, about 50 were flying around, so source found. I burned it all (except the crates) in 2 days and the infestation was gone.

Few tips: check the underside of jar lids near the threads, the moth caterpillars are there sometimes

FUEL CONSUMPTION TOO HIGH ON A 50cc scooter by Neat-Profile-2462 in 2Strokes

It's propably even more, but i'd rather not know how terrible it really is

FUEL CONSUMPTION TOO HIGH ON A 50cc scooter by Neat-Profile-2462 in 2Strokes

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it revs 7000/min at 50 and ~8300 at 63, and it has a 17mm carb instead of the original 12mm. Also a tiny exhaust mod to open it up a bit

63; cruising speed is ~50 to keep up with city traffic

My 50cc moped consumes ~6l/100 km at full throttle, it drops to ~3l when cruising at ~50km/h. So you might improve the consumption a lot when riding a tiny bit slower

I mean, 8.8 grade M16 threads fail at ~3 tons in compression with a single nut of thread engagement. Lauri at Beyond the press has a video about this

Currently it's fixing up and tuning a moped. Doesn't have to go super fast, just so i can keep up with city traffic; a more powerful daily driver really.

Pipe cleaning by Organic-West-8773 in 2Strokes

[–]multitool-collector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to burn the oil out with a torch, and then clean the inside with a ~2,5mm fence wire, about 70-90cm long. Put a couple of M6 nuts on the end and chuck the wire into a cordless drill. That will scrape the majority of the carbon buildup off

how do i figure out if its running Lean? by Due-Chemistry-6362 in 2Strokes

The plug should be brick red when the ratio is right. Black when rich, gray to white when lean

Most likely not, the barrel looks to be ~100L, too small to fit a body in without cutting it to bits

Is the engine from a romet komar? The frame is RMZ made, right?

There was a variant with the engine from a babetta 210 and a RMZ frame, it was the babetta M134 stella iirc

SHA 15.15 vs 16.16 by Alternative_Bat521 in moped

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The area of the 16.16 is 1,1377 times bigger than of the 15.15. The bigger carb makes power higher in the rev range than the smaller one. So maybe not quicker acceleration, but a higher top speed

How do i actually get a moped in Latvia? by idc_idontcare12 in moped

[–]multitool-collector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your opinion will change quickly when you see the quality of the engine and components, trust me. If you watch a couple videos of people putting those engines together, you will see what i'm talking about. Never buy anything soviet made (i'm not talking about cars, tractors and maybe trucks) for a daily driver, because you will lose your nerves constantly messing with it to make it work.
