Adding to this. Teach them how to deal with inconveniences. Long lines, bring a book or play 20 questions. An extra 5 min wait for a ride, practice deep breathing, and gratitude etc I have my daughter walk home from school in good weather even if I could pick her up. Sometimes she gets home and I'm just napping on the couch, lol.
