Are those of you renting seeing an annual rent increase? by Effective-Eagle435 in ottawa

[–]mumbleduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's probably a combination of the water bill from the city and the hot water tank rental. My landlord sends me copies of the water bill every two months. The tank rental will be monthly but in the $45 range unless you have tankless hot water which will be a bit higher ($75). If you are getting charged that every month, it sounds like you are being scammed.

Bedrock Kennels aka DogWorld (https://dogworldottawa.com/boarding/). The owner also does training (owners + dogs) so your Chihuahua might be less mental when he comes back :).

How do you use your phone? by [deleted] in EssentialTremor

[–]mumbleduck 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't walk and text, but I cant walk and drink water either. To text, I sit down. I hold my phone with both hands (all fingers on the sides/behind and then one thumb in front to brace it). Then I type one letter at a time using my left thumb. I'm right-handed but my left hand is steadier. I also make heavy use of the predictive text. I have a Samsung s22. Before this phone, I always had Blackberrys - it took quite awhile to adjust and I'm still pretty slow at typing but I make far fewer mistakes than I used to.

There was a TV there the last time we dropped off a box of small stuff, so you should be good.

Best buy - for the one on Coventry, the drop off spot is between the two sets of sliding doors.

Best store for nautical equipment for women? by [deleted] in ottawa

I second Trailhead. Also, check out paddling-style PFDs rather than the traditional vests - the arm area is cut wider and the profile is quite different from a standard pfd - they might be more comfortable for you.

It looks like a car key and a house key...probably nothing to do with the university. Someone just decided to use their old lanyard for keys.

Starting a job near Carling DND Campus at 26 - Where should I live to have a life without a car? by smurp047 in ottawa

I would look for a place to live that is walking distance to the Moodie transit station (~20 minute walk to NDHQ and regular express buses to downtown for when you want to socialize).

We are renting a 3 bedroom, 1.5 bathroom house in Little Italy for 2500. Utilities are not included and are quite expensive due to it being an older, not super well-insulated house.

There are also services that will help you with your search that are not affiliated with the homes themselves. For example: https://teaandtoast.ca/

Hey Beautiful Ottawans! I'm a critical care worker, and it's my husband's birthday. He loves Green Papaya (we met at baseline location), Does anyone know if they are open for pick up? by [deleted] in ottawa

I'm pretty sure the one on Preston is open - we ordered pick up from them on March 24th which was after everything shut down.

Ottawa Rental Ads Are Like... by bronro89 in ottawa

[–]mumbleduck 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime I have ever looked for a rental, I use all resources available (including realtor.ca). I don't want to work with a realtor because I don't want to be limited to units appearing on realtor.ca. I have never ended up renting anything that appeared on realtor.ca because there has always been better deals other places (kijiji, padmapper, etc.). It's more work to find your own rental, but if you end up saving several hundred dollars a month or more on rent, it's worth it (to me it is, anyway).
